That's a perfectly good question though not something I've encountered.
So, I took a look. I would say there is very little movement but that doesn't tell much.
Soooo, I connected my 30mm extension to the 150mm and estimate movement to be around 2 mm. When reversed (150 connected to 30mm) the movement at the extreme end is accentuated and is approximately 6 mm....and that's good enough for the girl's I go out with.

I am just wondering why all extension have so much play/ clearance while the ratchet to socket is pretty much solid.

I wish I could find such accessories and to top it up with QR and knurling[emoji106]

I like to call the Tone versions the newer, 2.0 versions, with a more durable metal handle with hex "bolsters" near the handle. TONE's short version has an aluminum handle.

Got some Japanese stuff at work today.

Our Japanese office just finished designing a new machine, and sent the prototype to us. Install involves some large-ish metric tools they suspected (correctly) none of our shop guys would have on hand, so they brought them and I 'inherited' them when they were done.

What's a good price on the Merry snap ring pliers, JC175B and HC175B? These are the ones that allow the tips to be inserted either straight or angled, and each comes with 5 sets of tips. I can get these from Niles/Merry in the USA for $93 shipped, while Rakuten is about $91. Is there anywhere these can be had cheaper? That seems a bit high for two pairs of snap ring pliers. I'm thinking that these would allow better access to rings that are down in a deep bore than something like the knipex precision, because of the pin diameter - am I thinking right on this? I don't suppose anyone has both the merry and the knipex and could compare?

I have been very interested in those also but again as you said the price is a bit high for me. I wonder if anyone here is planning a trip to Japan and would like to help his fellow GJ members by picking some up?? Never know unless you ask

The Merry design is versatile and since the tips are longer you have greater reach. You can also set min/max opening--something not offered by most.

I bought mine for 8100 yen for the set, which in today exchange rate amounts to $70US. I'm going to Japan in a couple months time, but shipping from Canada will negate any savings.

superautobacs, you will just need to make another home in the states, this should solve the Canada shipping. This way you would just have to come to the US and problem solved That's very nice of you to let us know that you are going over in a few months. Wish you could bring me/us over a set of those but as you said the shipping would negate the savings. (BUMMER) As always you are extremely helpful and I like how you share your knowledge with us. KTC hose ring pliers.

We just ordered these for work. Needed something that could mount 2 hose rings at one time. Also it looks like it works for a bunch of different kinds of hose rings. I've seen no others like it, thought I'd share.

I envy all the good deals you guys in the US get and shipping costs seems to be very reasonable compared to Canada's postal service, so there's already a couple positive things to living in the US.
I have enough expenses here, with Vancouver having one of the most expensive housing markets in this continent, there's no room to spare.

I went Snap-On for Semi deep. I even special ordered the 21mm. The warranty issue is what got me. That and SO's new-er magnetic holder/packaging is nice.

If your on a budget go Armstrong or piece what you need one by one from eBay. That is assuming your looking for a metric set. I pretty much only work on Toyotas. So you know the only sizes needed.

Does Koken offer a 8,10,12, 14,17, 19 set?

Warranty is not a huge issue for me, as I'm just a DIY hack and won't use them that hard. GP and Sunex have a lifetime warranty as well, and if I'm down for a week it's not that big of deal. My Sunex SAEs have treated me very well. Just wanted to look at other options is all.

Are the SO racks available separately?

I'm surprised the packaging says that it's impact rated. Nothing with chrome plating should be. The chrome will start to chip at the edges in no time. Good price though!

I have a small selection of 1/2 drive deep Ko-ken impacts, and set of semi-deep Sunex and a set of shallow K-tool (Taiwanese) in 3/8 drive. I use the 3/8 impacts exclusively with my 18v impact wrench or impacting air ratchet. The 1/2 Ko-kens get used by pneumatic impacts. I'm quite happy with how the Ko-kens are holding up to repetitive use. The Taiwanse 3/8 stuff I have is holding up pretty well too, although they appear to be made with a more softer material/heat treatment. Your money, your choice.

Don't know why buy I thought the center ring material is Bronze. I have a few pair of Keiba and they are very nice

Keiba calls it bullet metal or gun metal. I assumed it was something like cupronickel or a bronze alloy (still mostly copper), not brass. I'd think brass would be too soft and would develop slop in the joint pretty quick especially since its sandwiched between the two halves, not just a ring between the joint.

I assume bullet metal is a poor translation and its gun metal which is any number of bronze alloys. Makes a lot more sense for a load bearing bushing than brass.

Picked this ETC Industrial Tools 1/2" dr socket set at a car boot (yard) sale here in the UK at the weekend & was wondering if anyone had seen this brand before?

Its a nice heavy duty set & comes in a steel case that has a few external scuffs & paint scrapes/splashes on it, but the set appears to have had little use.

Its made in Japan & Id estimate its from the 70's or 80's perhaps?

Ive given it a quick clean & also re greased the ratchet & its smooth as silk now

You get a lot of ETC gear in Australia, I've got the same 1/2 wratchet as your kit. ETC still exist but now seem to purchase most of their tools from china. I've seen some people claim asahi made ETCs old line up but nothing to back that up.
