Rummaging through my drawers I find the cutter blades, made in Osaka.
Someone already use its blades? my package has never been opened.

I picked up this rather nice HIT pipe wrench. It has springs which allow rapid adjustment of the jaws before tightening and some rather cool size indicators. I estimate 20-30ish years old as I remember these from my childhood.

Does it have any coo stamp on it?

Yup. Japan. I have several current HIT tools from Japan. They still make a great, super tough product.

I got seriously shelled by enemy fire when I said I had a similar experience. To me, there are other methods that are better FOR ME than Frankstools.com. Others have had great experiences.

Why not just ask him directly? I've had 20+ back and forth emails with Frank over the years and i'd swear 99% of them he's responded within a couple hours.

Anyone has a guide for rpm vs drill size that is standard in industry?

I have a found a lot of charts on the Web however for small drill bits up to 4 mm they refer to 3000 rpm or more. I find this to be quite high.

Also does the application of special fluid/ paste allows for altering these rpm?

We placed a large order through Frank, and communication was a complete nightmare. Some stuff was backordered, and we'd go 2 weeks without a status update, even though he told me he'd e-mail me as soon as stuff came in. Sometimes I'd send an e-mail, and he he'd reply "oh the tools came in a few days ago".

In the end we did get all the tools, plus a little extra for taking so long. He was nice enough, but it was such a huge hassle getting into contact with him. He cited health problems, which is fine, but then get a family member or someone to handle your e-mails.

Just keep on him, and he should reply.

First off "thank you" to those individuals that responded to my post.

Previously I had ordered from frankstools before and never ever had a problem. Orders were shipped on a timely manner and he always seem to have what I asked for based on what he had listed on his site.

Then I asked about specific tools from the catalog and he said that it wouldn't be a problem ordering them and he could get them for me. OK, then so I placed my order for them. That was back on the 2nd of July.

I did not hear anything after that. So I sent a email on the 12th of July and he said that the order had not come in. I say fine I understand and just let it go at that.

Come August all the time from July, still haven't heard anything about my order from frankstools.

On the 8th of August I send him an email basically stating what was the status of my ordrer? If there was a problem with my order? Could he actually fill my order? That it was coming up on a month now since I last sent an email to him about my order?

He says that there is no problem. That he received a shipment the day before and that he would ship my order out to me.

Well I just received my order today Saturday August 12th.

None the less, this will definitely be my last time ever ordering "anything" from franks tools.

The only tools that I ever ordered from frankstools were KOKEN tools and that was all.

Lastly, on the very last email that I received from him he stated the following (quote):


Frankstools:
"Be it known that I am taking a bashing at the expense of Koken USA. I will no longer offer Koken tools after my stock is depleted."

that was all I ordered was koken.... Not fast on the shipping, but I got the stuff. I might see if my other koken guy is up selling to me... I got 99 percent of my koken stuff from him in the past...

Koken sound like they're run by morons if they're alienating one of their few distributors offering to US customers. Reduce your miniscule market exposure from 1 to 0. That will help you grow.

While I am certain that Frank has supply issues with Koken USA, he clearly has issues with communication. I placed an order from him several weeks ago and it was delayed. I sent him 3 emails before he responded. The delays plus his lack of communication = no more orders from me.

I think he's just been really overwhelmed with how much Koken has been screwing him. Our order was also severely delayed because of Koken unable to handle themselves. It was absurd that it took almost 2 months to get a set of deep sockets in. He did tell me that he can't get any answers from them on why everything is constantly back-ordered either.

I feel for him, and will probably give him another chance - just not with Koken tools though.

The writing was on the wall last year when it took about 4 months to get my 4251A socket set. Ordered them at the end of October 2016, got them at the end of February this year.

I do not blame Frank at all, I'm sure he's doing the best he can. If the manufacturer isn't filling orders in a timely fashion, there's not much you can do other than wait. Damn shame because they're nice tools.

5 weeks for boutique items with very limited distribution in N America. Figure Mfgr. to Distributor 2 weeks, Distributor to vendor a week, vendor to customer a week. Things can move faster, but the bottom line is you have first world problems.

If Frank transitioned from buying directly from KoKen to buying from K-USA, that's added bureaucracy, time, and cost. I could state on a forum a vendor took too long, and there's always three sides to a story, but I don't find the need to fuss over a vendor who has made nice stuff available to persons in a poor district market.

Does any of the Japanese tool companies make tools like these SO shock absorber gland nut tools?
They are for the large nut that holds shock absorber inserts into a front suspension strut spindle. Think 240z or any FR Toyota from 1968-86
