Tools on Market Place?

I’m always looking for good deal, such as the Milwaukee M18 impact 2962-20 which HD hasn’t put them on sale yet.
Well surfing market place I see several of same impact but lot less. If these are counterfeit, someone is going heck of job. Impacts are in original boxes, I’m sure there’s no warranty at all if your looking for one. But what I wonder is how does these people come across all these tools? Not just impacts but some sellers has all of Milwaukee tools. Some of pics looks like in warehouse. Even M18 batteries see on MP that’s new and cheaper than anyone. How do they get these tools sale cheap and still make profit? I just can’t roll dice take chance so waiting on HD put impact on sale.
Has anyone purchase something new that was lot cheaper than normal pricing? I see flag

One of the guys that works for me has a 6-figure "side business" doing this stuff. He's buying them at discounts, usually in sets, breaking the sets up, and then selling at a margin of about 10% per component. He has a side deal with USPS (wife works there), so his shipping costs are extremely low. It's all about volume for him.

I see quite a few tools come up as Amazon returns, that's another source.

I'm sure there are lots of counterfeits out there.

I just bought a nearly new M18 router for about 1/2 off of the Home Depot price. I saw an ad on FB Marketplace. It turns out that this fella has a store and he gets his inventory by purchasing pallets of HD returns. I checked the warranty and it is valid until 2030. It is all legit. Milwaukee doesn’t ask for a receipt - it uses the manufacturing date.

I picked up a 3/8 impact stubby w 5.0 HP battery when on sale at HD for $150. It’s special buy today at HD today for $250. I could make money if I wanted to sell (bare tool and battery separate) on FBMP.

HD often limits to 5 units purchases because of this

2962-20 is on sale all the time - great tool, love mine. They ran rebates to get them free with a battery purchase last year for quite a while.

I generally find that the Milwaukee prices on Marketplace are more than I can buy the tools / batteries new for.

You might want to check on that. My Milwaukee dealer says that when you purchase a Milwaukee product from an authorized Milwaukee dealer, your product's s/n is automatically sent to Milwaukee for registration and warranty purposes. He goes on to say if you try and warranty a Milwaukee product that hasn't been properly registered by an authorized dealer, the warranty request will be denied. That's the reason you can't manually register a Milwaukee purchase on their website. It's done automatically by the authorized dealer at the time of purchase. Bottom line is Milwaukee tools are only warranted when purchased through an authorized Milwaukee dealer.

HD by me, there’s lot of shop lifting. I would see open boxes hidden with tool missing. Like you said, all has cable attach or in cage.
