So I like to carry a few items under my crew cab's rear seat. I'm talking about jumper cables, reece hitch, tow strap, zip ties, ratchet straps, etc. I have weathertech liners for the floor. I currently use a couple of those canvas bags from HF but the stuff still seems to be in the way the majority of the time or sliding around. So what do you carry in your truck and how do you organize it so its not in the way all the time. At this point I don't want to put a toolbox in my truck bed as the bed is small enough as it is...2010 GMC Sierra Crew Cab

I do what you currently do so I have nothing helpful to add. However I do know there are some nice molded plastic storage boxes that are specific to each truck for a clean look and you usually lift up the seat to access the stuff you would but inside. Much better option than a bed tool box on a 5.5' bed. Give it a google.

Not tools per say, but I carry a selection of tie downs, ratchet straps, 3 tow hitch ball mounts with different size balls, zip ties, electrical tape, etc pretty much permanently under the rear seat of my '05 Dodge quad cab. A mag light and a couple other items live in the lower part of the center console. This way I've got the main part of the console for day to day items and I don't have to worry about stuff sliding out from under the seats to get caught up in my feet when I'm driving.

Of course, I have no idea how the storage is set up on a GMC so I don't know if this is any help or not.

I made two back seat storage containers for my last two trucks then this truck we got the business package which includes tonneau cover and nerf bars. I traded the salesman the nerf bars for mud flaps and the Gm under seat storage container. They are nice however extremely expensive for what you get. There are plans out there for sub boxes use those as a guide to build your own storage. Carpet is available online.

I've got a couple Bucket Boss tool bags to keep the tons of stuff in my truck organized. Jumper cables in the cable bag, tools and stuff in the big bag, and a small bag full of all my winch stuff- extension rope, controller, ****** block, and tons of shackles. If it can keep me organized, well...

Thos Du-Ha bins look awesomely handy. Lucky for me, ain't nobody sitting in the back of an old extended cab Tacoma, and there's no doors back there, so behind my seats is a wall of stuff.

18 volt Dewalt cordless tool set.
300 some piece craftsman tool set in blow molded case
My husky tool bag with too many tools to list
Jumper pack
Tow strap
Tie downs
Several hitches and balls
Starting fluid
Butane torch for de icing locks
Jumper cables ( some times heavy equipment takes a jump and the jumper pack to get going)

My obsession with preparedness drives my wife insane, my back seat has just enough room for my daughter to ride along. Wife thinks tools should go in the back!! Lmfao...no way.

The only problem I see with this is if the locks are iced up you won't be able to get in to get to the torch!

OK, I suppose you could use it on somebody else's locks, or you could just get one of your doors open and use it on the others. Just remembering the few times I've had to deal with iced up locks on my own cars.

150 bucks ain't bad considering that's around the cost for a prefabbed sub box for some of these trucks. And by the time you factor in materials and your time it's only a bit more expensive.

I used to keep tools in my 2003 GMC extended 1/2 to. under the rear seat, they slid around a bit. Traded it in on a Ford Super Duty F250 4 X 4, now I Carry my cell phone and a extended warranty.

That is no fun.

Complete set of standard and metric 1/2 drive sockets
Tool wrap of craftsman wrenches standard and metric
Tool wrap with assortment of pliers, screw drivers, punches, and a couple of extensions.
Roll of electrical tape.
Assortment of tie downs
Jumper cables 2/0 guage for the F350
Plastic box of assorted electrical connectors, fuses, and small guage wire
4x4 cut into 12 in sections for cribbing
propane torch
GLOVES (mechanics and latex)
5 lb mini sledge
3 lb dead blow mallet
multimeter
Cam position sensor

All stored in canvas bags either behind or in the rear floor boards. They don't really move around. The only work I've had to do on my truck was remove the tunner when it locked up on a road trip and that didn't require any tools. My tool set has been invaluable to my friends and to strangers though. I've done everything from replace a boat engine to rebuild a toyota transfer case with just what I had on hand. My truck has 257k miles on it at some point it will let me down so it is best to be prepared.

I second the DuHa storage-I have one in my Sierra and it rocks, Further, they have a lock where you can lock it shut to the folding seat so it can't be opened-another nice feature.
