When it come to tools what tool is your weakness, which tool is it that you look for first and will dig through a bunch of others to get it?

When it comes to tools I have a thing for most basic hand tools but my weakness is ratchets. I go for the ratchets in any store, yard sale, flea market. I rather have ratchets than cash, lol

Mostly the metal ones ....

Hazet, not the old tools from cars.
Stahlwille
Snapon screwdrivers
Then specific tools, long long handle Proto ratchet, Proxxon rotator, hammers I don't have, anything interesting like ignition wrenches. Sigh, real admission of weakness since I have no real use for them, old SK and Utica.

Special tools for Porsche 928, factory tools and tools from the kit in the cars.

Steel angle plates. Parallels. Height blocks. Surface plates. Anything really heavy and made of steel. I have absolutely no need for so many. But now I've got a lot of them.

I seem to always buy "Yankee Screwdrivers" whenever I see them. I have about 30 of them now it seems and have never used even one.

Hammers and Ratchets. I don't need as many as I have but I always find an excuse to buy another one.

Pliers for some reason. I dont use them too often but when I do it is always a pleasure :) I have an itch for a nice set of linesman's pliers...

Ratchets, Snap-on hard handles, obscure sockets and socket drivers. I have ~50 ratchets and use most of them, love 'em, can't get enough. I've pretty much stopped buying hard handles since they brought them back, and i have a stockpile of them. Obscure sockets are great, there's something great about having every kind of socket imaginable, and many that aren't! From strut nut sockets, to diesel injector sockets, special sensor sockets, etc.. very few don't get used, i find all kinds of uses for the ones i have. (Ford ICP sensor socket is great for coolant temp sensors and oil pressure sensors!)

Ah, so many tools, so little money..

Anything USA. On Saturday, I bought a Porter Cable finish sander I didn't really need, just because it was in the original box "Proudly Made in the USA." BTW, does anyone know the COA of the current generation of Porter-Cable quarter sheet finish sanders?

As far as the bigger stuff, it's Snap-on and Kennedy boxes. I've got nine Snap-on and nine Kennedys. They're not all full yet, but working on it.

Anything Machinist.
Micrometers, dial indicators, combination squares, ect ect ect...

Although I've also been caving in to more and more ratchets lately...

Anything I don't have. Doesn't matter if I don't have an immediate use for it, or don't need it- if I don't already have one in my collection, I want it. :D

Doesn't matter if it's a box wrench or a large machine tool. I can't always afford it, but I want it. :D

Doc.

I was thinking about a thread like this last night while I was looking around at sears while they were fixing a ratchet (ended up giving me a different one).

Either way I like pry bars, not that I really use them all that much but I like them, bigger the better.

Also pliers....especially side cutters.

Lately it's been LED flashlights, and vise's.
Always on the lookout for BIG wrenches SAE and metric. Full polish has won a spot in my heart...
