I have a lot of tools at home that I bought because I use them so much at work, but haven't gotten a chance to actually use them at home yet.

I have a set of large picks and scrapers at work that I've had for 3+ years that Ive never used. Came as a set and I've only used the small picks.

When I bought my home 24 years ago this summer, I ran out and bought a Milwaukee hammer drill since the basement is 10" thick poured concrete walls. I needed some grunt to mount things on the garage wall. Like a ******* I was back then, I grabbed the 3/8 drill, not 1/2"
I used it twice and put it away and brought home the Hilti when I need it. I think I let the neighbor use it once too.

Bought some large lock ring pliers. I had no idea how large they really were. Gave them to my son.

Dad bought me a Craftsman circular saw when I bought my first home. First time I used it was to cut up a pallet for firewood. I cut the power cord in half because I was using it in the dark. I think I tried to use it once since I replaced the power cord. I prefer my M12 or my Makita track saw.

Bought a really nice Cutech planer last fall. Have not had a chance to use it yet. Its their top of the line unit. :lol_hitti

True that. At work I have a rule about that. Once I borrow a tool 3x I buy one for myself.
Well, sometimes. I still haven't bought a digital torque wrench. :lol_hitti

Doing my own work at home and helping others at times this is exactly what happens to me. I run into a need and buy a single locally to get it done. My inner demons then make me buy a complete set for that “next time”.

Only time I can remember using my hand impact driver is taking factory brake rotors off a Honda. I went to look for mine one time and it just seemed to have grown legs and walked off.
A year later I found it out in the side yard opposite from my garage. And of course no one knows how it got out there.

Same here. I think I've used an impact driver maybe one time other than honda rotor screws.

Speeders are handy for chasing threads. Get one of the sets of Lisle tap sockets and then you can chase threads on engine restorations in about a 10th of the time you would with a tap handle. If you have not seen a set of Lisle tap sockets they are about $20 on Amazon.

I’ve got a snap on pit-120 for the simple fact that I’ve owned only Hondas for 18 years and even if I put the rotor retention screw in by hand, I have always had to use the impact driver to get it out.

It is the only thing I use it for.

Does it have another use?

You put those screws back in? :headscrat

I've used my hand impact a lot on my motorcycle...factory screws on my Kawasaki are all JIS and all made of chrome plated oatmeal, impact is the best way to get them out.

Also stubborn screws on vise jaw pads.

I have never used a speeder. Or 3/8 breaker.

I'm one who like to buy complete sets of thing, even when I really only need one or two sizes. Spanner wrenches for hydraulic cylinders or lock collars are a good example, I only really need 2 or so, but have about every size and style.

Early in my career as a A&P Mech I bought a complete 3/8 drive set of Snap-On deep well sockets and after 35 years I'm sure some of them haven't even been off the rail. It's funny to look at them and think they're still virgins.

I have a number of them from duplicates to things I got after some job and wishing I would have had it. There's also some stuff I got because it was a good price and I thought it might come in handy some day. One of those would be a Wright 3/4 to 1 inch torque multiplier I got on sale. Same goes for most of my angle wrenches.

25/32" OE wrench. Why this size even exists is a mystery. There's another oddball size in the standard C'man package that doesn't correspond to any standard fastener, can't remember it off hand.

Let me guess, German-made, turned up in the Amazon Warehouse thread in the Hot Deals forum? I remember almost pulling the trigger on a set, and at the last minute thinking wait, that seems like a LOT of millimeters... finally did the math and realized that i don't actually have any snap rings large enough to fit around my neck :bounce:

I've used my 3/8" snappy speeder countless times tearing down engines, changing gaskets, and changing ****** fluid and filters. Though i have never used the 1/2" version.

I have one of these kicking around and I have used it a few times on square plugs, IIRC it fit the dipstick on old kholers....

Too many years ago I would borrow a combo puller from my neighbor's Snap On truck. After the third time he said I should just go ahead and buy it, so I did and have not used it yet.

I use mine every now and then. Brake rotor screws, Tecumseh Snow King Phillips muffler bolts, rusted Dodge truck torx door strikers, classic VW Phillips door hinge bolts.

Makita sheet metal cutter. My aunt bought it for my grandfather and gave it to me a couple of years ago. I don’t think she used it after he passed in 1989 and I haven’t either except to test it.

Oh, and I usually end up with a gimmick tool every other year or so. I usually donate or scrap them rather than keep them around.

1-1/2” ratcheting combination wrench. I bought it from a pawn shop, mostly as a novelty. Now I know why it was at a pawn shop to begin with, poor soul that paid retail probably realized he’d pissed a lot of money down the drain. Thankfully I didn’t pay very much for it.

Handy for the flywheel on an east-west BMC A Series

I have a really nice set of Williams hook spanners that I bought to work on a lathe, sold the lathe without doing anything with it...
I stopped using my speed brace when I bought a cordless impact.. then started using it again a few weeks back when I cobbled together an adaptor or it to hold a countersinking/deburring bit.
I don’t use the vast array of HSS tools I spent ages grinding much any more since buying insert tooling.
I bought a set of really nice old trammel points from someone here a few years back and can’t use them because our steel stock is metric and they are designed around imperial measurements, I’ll get around to machining something for them one day maybe

I bought a HF parts washer and upgraded the pump so I could use solvent. I even have two 5gal jugs of the tractor supply solvent. I still havent used it. I also bought a lisle pneumatic fan clutch removal tool kit that I have no idea if I will ever use. I also bought a 5lb slide hammer, axle bearing puller, and blind hole bearing puller. I thought I needed them for a couple jobs on my camaro, but once I started those projects, I realized the bearings were fine. I know I will use those tools eventually.
