Tools you wonder why you ever bought

There is always that tool that you look at and have never used and wonder why you ever even bought them. Here are two that I bought 15 years ago and have never used once! LOL

I picked up one of those adjustable wrenches at a yard sale this summer. It works awsome as a punch/chisel holder.

You actually bought that wrench on the left. That's usually something you get as a Christmas gift from somebody who don't know any better!

I have the screwdriver wrench on the right, and it does come in really handy from time to time.

Years ago, before cordless LED lights were as common as they are now, I bought a little drop light that plugged into the lighter socket, made by Central Tool maybe? Thought it would be the cats a** for all the under dash work I do. It's sitting in the bottom drawer of my top box, in its box, never used.

Thats a gauge for setting the adjuster on drum brakes. I've used one once but usually just adjust them with the good ol put the drum on and go by feel method

What gets me is buying tools that I already have. I did this the other day. I spent $35 on a tool because the one I had not put in the correct drawer. I didn't discover this until I had used the new one so I couldn't return it.

There must be some reason why I own two identical Snap On long handle 3/8 ratchets, but I don't know what it is.

I use both those tools fairly regularly Also have the bigger brother of the red handled wrench. I know they're not liked on here, but they work fine for my purposes. Now, the one tool I have that I have only used once - and just "because I had it" not because I needed it.

Buchanan crimp tool. Required tool when I went to college and I don't think anyone used it more than 2-3 times.

I use my hex sockets quite frequently, however the linulium knife, and cat5 crimping tool collect dust in my box. The soldering iron will come in handy some day soon, but only after being in the original packaging for the last 10+ years.

I'm horrified about the amount of tools I haven't used... I bought all of my sockets
and spanners as sets..... along with torx, hex, tripple square, crowsfeet, ratchet spanners,
stubby spanners, long spanners, deep sockets.... You get the idea....

Buying them in sets is sooo much cheaper than buying them individually and of course
you have the right size to hand just when you need it, but as a DIYer just working on my
car and my families there is only certain amount of sizes you actually need...

Actually if I'm completely honest, I have filled out all my tools with a few individual pieces
to complete all my sets of sockets and spanners so there are no gaps. I know deep down
most of them will never get used, but I feel somewhat comforted knowing I have them.

I think the phrase "Just in Case" should be Garage Journal's Motto.

A lot of my tools are scored second hand so I have a TON of tools I do not use since I have ten others I can grab in its place. Auctions make my inventory grow even bigger since you buy an entire box full of tools for the one (and only) Snap-on ratchet sitting on top.

I do give a lot of tools away to guys at work or family members , but can't bring myself to throw out tools even if they are ****.

I have never seen one in real life, but would that funny adjustable wrench in the first picture work very well as a punch and/or cold chisel holder? Are the adjustment threads fine enough to pinch something like that tightly and hold it well?

Have that same on. I actually use it any time I do drum brakes. saves me time. your results may vary. LOL

You must hate blue painters tape as much as I do!

My worthless tool is no doubt the 48 inch bolt cutters. They weigh 25 pounds and you need a 7 foot wing span to even crack the jaws open.

i got a shiny new Gearwrench 20mm deep well 6pt socket the other day to fill in a gap on my hansen tray because i got tired of looking at an "incomplete' 3/8 socket set. highly doubt ill ever use it.

Wow. I use my Dasco versions so much they don't have the blue paint on them anymore. Then again I am gutting/rehabing a house.

*another tip for baseboards and trim...the Harbor Freight auto body trim removal tools, not the metal ones. Doesn't scrap or dent the wood and doesn't break either.

I hear ya. It make take more time to peel off the baseboards, but at least for me, the job turns out better.

I have just a couple 1/2" impact sockets i never use, they came as a set. Everything else gets used almost every day. My philosophy on buying tools is if you need it 3 times you should get it.

bought a air powered flashlight from mac once , got off that truck and thought what the hell did I do that for. Nothing like listening to a air motor so you can have some light

I picked up a Vaughan Superbar a while back and used it a lot... mostly for pulling up carpet tack strips. We'll be doing some remodeling in the next couple years, I'm sure it will be used a lot there too.
