Checking to see if anyone has experience ordering from toolsdelivered.com

http://www.toolsdelivered.com/

Some of these websites look fake or amateurish.

I have a take!

Not amateurish - The site is hosted by Soft Layer Technologies in Washington DC, Seattle, and Dallas so it has quick page speeds no matter where someone might be, even for dialup internet users. With internet traffic volume (gaming, phones, music, video) choking the net regionally a lot of times this is helpful. The website automatically changes to a mobile device friendly display when it detects a mobile device user viewing a page for a better display and page load. The payment page has 256 bit encryption, which is double the requirements of AMEX, VISA, M/C, and Discover acceptance. 256 bit is a higher level of encryption than many banks. The site and business is certified by the VISA Payment Card Industry Security Standards Council to exceed their Card Data Security Standard for security and privacy.

Not fake. - ToolsDelivered.com is an authorized and stocking reseller for J.H. Williams, BAHCO, BelAire Compressors, Chicago Pneumatic Compressors, Cal-Van Tools, CDI Torque, Fowler, Knipex, Mastercool, Mayhew Steel, and SAS Safety with more to come soon. If it is in stock it ships within 24hrs, if not, 5-7 days from the manufacturer unless they back order it which then the customer is notified.

Appearance.- We just tried to start off with nice clean site with good information and without sales-hype clutter, and focused on site performance and organization so that people would not get aggravated trying to find things. 98% of the work has been under all the hood to make it fast, reliable, and vault secure. We plan to get it Foosed in the future while keeping the site fast loading.

We have been incorporated and doing wholesale/government sales/service only since January 2009. Toolsdelivered.com is our 1st direct to end user effort and it has online since March 1, 2011.

If anyone has any suggestions about what we do and how we do it, what we offer, (or what we look like!) PM us please.

Thanks for the comments bchee

Wow cool.
I just placed an order, so hopefully it works out (small order $26 + $8 shipping).

I was looking for a 15mm wrench to complete my Williams supercombo collection and they had the cheapest price. I was also missing the 22mm so I ordered that too.

The checkout process was simple and you know the shipping before completing the order. They have stock photos of the items so I hope the picts and description are accurate.
I also liked that you can choose UPS, Fedex, or USPS.

I will post back with my experience.

i think i tried ordering some mid length 1/4 sockets from them. The order went through and then later i got an email saying they were not in stock.

Williams does not make a mid length socket and we have never offered any in any brand.

USA, Import, Deep, Shallow, 12pt and 6pt are the only 1/4 inch options.

It looks like they're a recent start-up (http://who.godaddy.com/whois.aspx?domain=toolsdelivered.com&prog_id=GoDaddy), and while there's a toll-free number listed on their website, there's no physical address or PO Box mentioned.

We have our address on our invoices only.

If we publish to web the street address and direct email address, that contact info gets scraped by data mining companies and sold along with a list of other sites to marketing companies who want to then junk & email-hound us to death with "offers". Fortunately they rarely dial the phone number.

Gotcha, makes sense.

I always look for at least a phone number. These days with free Google Voice numbers, that's not much to ask for.

In the 2 years you've done wholesale/government sales, which Williams tools would you say were your biggest sellers?

I'm not going to lie to you. I'm not real big on dealing with overly secretive sellers. Especially new ones.

Can you at least tell us what city and state you're in? That would go a long way at eliminating "surprise" sales tax, and giving the potential customer an idea of shipping costs and times.

I didn't see much information about shipping on your site. Do you offer delivery via US Mail. What about USPS Priority Mail flat rate boxes? Do you offer the option to ship FedEX ground for heavy orders?

In post 10, he says that an order is shipping directly from Williams. Such not-in-stock items probably have fewer options.

But adding an item to my cart and then my zip code, I see UPS Ground, FedEx Home and USPS Priority options.

I would assume that if you were to want to place a heavy order, you could call them up and talk to someone about custom shipping options.

I agree about the tax part, though. Perhaps a small blurb "customers in the following states will have the appropriate taxes added to their order total" in the cart page or similar.

No tax outside of Colorado, 2.9% in state, 6.7% in Larimer County. We will get that put up on the shipping calculator page so thanks for the tip.

For shipping rates we have a weight based shipping calculator, and you have to cart something first to use it. Shipping charges are exact with no surprises. Each item has been weighed within a 1/10 of a pound. Some sites do flat rate or order total based free shipping but of course it is built into the prices. We don't believe in charging the buyer who bought a $200 wrench set 200 miles away the same shipping as someone who is 1500 miles away that bought $200 in sledge hammers. It is the person 1500 miles away who will set the price for everyone closer. We prefer to make our money on the tools, and let the carriers make the money on the shipping.

Ground shipping stops and LTL freight starts at 125 lbs, and rates in the shipping calculator are exact. If you can't lift choose the lift gate option.

We cannot offer USPS flat rate boxes on the site because current shipping software cannot add up dimensions on 2+ items and figure out if it will fit inside a flat rate box. We offer UPS Priority because it is a better deal on residential delivery over Fed-UPS under 6lbs usually. Some buyers choose FedEx over UPS because of the price, but we almost always send it UPS anyway with more expense to us because they are the best with correcting problems quickly if one occurs. Available shipping options and rates vary with the zip code and item weight.

Shipping locations are Loveland, Colorado for stock, and manufacturer locations for the rest. We are looking into creating a zone map page based on each items location but we don't know if it can be done on our system yet. We can say when it will ship, but transit times ultimately are an estimate and are up to the carrier after they pick it up and no one but them has control over that. They schedule and reschedule based upon their regional truck & hub load levels hourly, especially for rural delivery.

Pretty impressive that ToolsDelivered.com would register so quick and answer these questions.

BTW TD.com, how did you find this site/the post so fast? Do you have a google alert set or something?

Thanks ToolsDelivered. I personally like the site interface, although a way to filter search results would be nice.

Two comments:
1) I'm located in Canada. It looks like you're setting up to be able to ship north of the border, but it won't price shipping right now. Just wanted to encourage you in that respect :D
2) Do you do special orders? If so, a quick and easy way to submit special requests (select manufacturer & punch in the part number to submit a quote request, and an easy way to convert that into an order). I'm thinking in particular of some of the Knipex models...

Glad I stumbled upon this thread. I may be convinced me to shop with this place considering A: the responsiveness of the retailer and B: the in stock items are only a couple states away. I hate waiting for things from the east coast and havent had much success finding companys with warehouses on this side of the country.

OK I have a question?
I did e mail but I'll ask it here too.

I was waiting for the Williams socket set, Williams MS-14-24RC to come back in stock, and it has.
I am wanting to also order Heavy Duty Circuit Tester Item Id: Cal-Van 70, and The
3\8" Drive Enclosed Head Ratchet 10-3\4" Item Id: Williams B-52EHLA
And also the
1\4" Drive Enclosed Head Ratchet 5-1\4" Item Id: Williams M-52EHA.
And maybe some other Items if I see something I want.
But the 1/4" Ratchet is out of stock.
Is there a way to order and pay for it and just send it to me with the rest of the stuff when the 1/4" ratchet come in stock?

Also, Do you handle the warranty on these WILLIAMS TOOLS IF NEEDED?
Thanks,
Tony

you're likely to be disappointed. i had a lengthy email exchange with a toolsdelivered.com rep, and suffice to say that just because it is on the website does not mean its 'in stock'. 'in stock' definately DOES NOT mean its in Colorado either.

if you're considering purchasing from them, i would get confirmation either via phone or email that something is truly 'in-stock'.

In the age of internet business, reputable companies DO NOT hide ANY info such as this.

I'm a small vendor and I have my picture, my personal cell phone number, and my home address on my website as I have nothing to hide. What are you so worried about that you feel you have to hide ANY info about your company???

There cheaper than a lot of places.

I don't know, If I can't order the 1/4" Ratchet now, I might just order it in black.
Would have been nice to have all chrome, cause the 3/8" is chrome, and I have a long 1/2" .
I was reading on the site, it does say "No back orders"

Thanks,
Tony

This post is so ignorant I feel compelled to respond. It's called PERSEC, Google it, but until you do I might suggest not using any checkin applications like Foursquare. "Suspicion breeds confidence, only the paranoid survive"

BTW, I mean this in the nicest way possible.

I'm in agreement with ptschram. I want to know who I am doing business with. A reputable business does not care if they get a little junk mail or a few phone calls from solicitors. Put an address and phone number on the web site, even if it's only a PO box or maildrop at Mailboxes, etc. or the local UPS store.

Say for example that you place an order, your credit card is charged and you never receive any product. You send a few E-mails but get no response. What recourse do you have? Call your credit card company and they will want a company name, address and phone number. Sure, the credit card company can probably figure it out eventually but you will look a little foolish when you are providing your credit card number to a business which you don't even know where it is located.

It's not uncommon for small 1-2 person businesses, especially drop-shippers to not publicly disclose such information. I would expect a storefront or office address, but not home address. As long as there's a phone number, I'm okay with it.

And credit card companies don't ask for company name, address or phone number to process a dispute. The most they typically require is a transaction amount, ID # (listed on CC statement), and rough time frame. They usually have access to company contact info from the transaction ID. Obviously the more info that's provided, the easier their job, but they can usually find all this out.

People who don't know me in any way shape or form other than my internet personality call me on a daily basis to give me their credit card number. Do you think they would do this if I was not as open?

I have no fear of putting my info out there, doing so allowed me build a successful business. Trust me, steps have been taken to protect the safety of my family and my property. I would not suggest trying to enter my house without my permission.

Edit;
Ok I did read that after 7 days warranty must be handled by the manufacture.
In this case, Williams, They will take care of it for me if needed? Correct?
There won't be a problem with "Where I brought it" like I have heard
some company's are telling people.
Thanks,

Data mining is a real problem, so much so that this forum has a letter scramble to search if you are not a registered member. The Garage Journal's phone number is "512… No way Jose…" if your are curious on the about us page.

We are a distribution company at risk of ID theft by people who will attempt to impersonate our business trying to get things shipped to freight forwarders so they can get it out of the country just as one example. By the time we get the bill it is gone. This has been done successfully for $77K.

This is exactly why companies will only eCommerce sell on eBay, with the prices jacked up 20% to cover the eBay's fees, with zero contact information available that people buy from everyday. We thought we would stay off ebay and try this route 1st.

We hired a firm that specializes in corporate cyber security to create a Standard Operating Procedure for us, so we now do everything the way they suggest without fail concerning our id information, our customer's id information, and our vendors id information. Our phone is available on the site to anyone, a return shipping address is on all invoices, and a phone # is on the customers credit card statement by their payment.

It is errant to draw comparisons of an e-business, and a business which repairs Rovers out of a home garage, has a website that does not take payments, and as hinted at in another of your post in this thread, security is provided by a gun.

Our security consultant said they can impersonate your website, turn off your utilities, and email your social security number with your own email address to you in 72 HRS.

She also can take your cell phone number and make an electronic purchase with it in India because with the cell plan you have, minutes = credits=currency in India, and things are bought there with credits on cell phones. All you need is a used cell phone off of ebay.

She wants to know if you would like her PO box so you can mail her your bullet.

This is how people end up on the "Fraud Victim" segment on the late local news, so wise up.
