How is the coating on the high visibility wrenches? Is it a paint or powdercoat, or something else?

I think they are powder coated but not sure yet. I expect the coating will chip off the business end but the handle should be good to go for a long time. I actually bought both sets yellow and red but yellow have not arrived(backordered) The plant is a rebuilding project from mismanagement over the last 3 years and most of the tools walked off and I wanted to keep an eye on these.

Well, my first experience trying to order a Williams tool is not going well so far, to say the least.

Back on Dec 2 after some discussion on a thread about 3/8" dr flex ratchets in a 1/4" dr size body I decided I could use something like that in my arsenal and I ordered a Williams M-52EHFA 1/4" Dr Flex from Auto Tool World and a Snap-On 3/8" ratchet repair kit RKRFC936 to put in it to convert it to a small 3/8 flex ratchet.

The order from Snap-On arrived a few days later like always.

The Dec 2 order from Auto Tool World seemed like it was something in stock and would soon be on the way but it wasn't until Dec 13 I got an email saying my order had shipped but included no tracking number. On Dec 14 I got another email from them saying "So, by now your order items have been shipped to you, and you've had some time to try them out. How have you liked them so far?" but it had not arrived yet and after checking MyUSPS, MyUPS, and MyFedEx on Dec 15 I could see that it wasn't on the way yet either. I sent an email to their customer service asking about it. I only got a response of "This shipped direct from the manufacturer, I will have tracking from them today if not I will get this cancelled and credited for you", and then a day later I get an email that the order had been canceled. That wasn't really what I wanted, but oh well.

I then placed an order for the same Williams M-52EHFA from Toolsource. At the time of placing the order nothing gave me any indication this wasn't an item they had in stock. It wasn't until a little more than 2 weeks later after Christmas I get an email saying that the manufacturer had given them "an ETA of 12/20/16 and that is past due" and that the "back order has been pushed out until approximately the 2nd week of January". Well, i was left hoping my ratchet would arrive sometime this week but when it didn't I emailed asking about it - hoping they also don't just pack up and cancel the order after all this time - and they replied that the "new ETA date is 1/20/17".

If both sellers are to be believed the problem for the delay is Williams, but in both cases the sites didn't let me know they were drop shippers and that the item might take weeks upon weeks to get here. Had I known that I would have just paid the extra $10 to order the ratchet from Amazon which was a Prime item at the time. Now Amazon is out of stock so I'm really stuck waiting.

I'm not upset or disgruntled with Toolsource, though I am a bit so with Auto Tool World for just abruptly canceling my order after falsely telling me it had already shipped. I can wait on the ratchet, assuming it does get here eventually. But boy I sure do wish either site had given me more info when placing the order to let me know that this is not an item they have in stock and that it will be drop shipped from the manufacturer if & when they ever get around to it. It just isn't worth waiting months longer just to save ~$10.

Anywho, end of rant.

Keep in mind, Amazon isn't always perfect either. Been waiting two weeks for a prime shipped item that was in-stock when I ordered it. Get the usual response, "temporarily out of stock", "didnt expext this to happen."

If Amazon misses a Prime shipping date, whether the fault is theirs or even when it was the shipping companies fault, Amazon will credit you another month to your Prime membership or more often than not they will first offer you a discount/credit on your next order. You would have to initiate a call to Amazon's customer service and ask for it though.

https://www.amazon.com/gp/help/customer/display.html?nodeId=201117450

Note: If you received free shipping through Amazon Prime, you may be eligible for a free one-month extension when the promised delivery date isn't met. Prime Extensions are limited to one per free trial and 12 for an annual membership. Free Amazon Student Memberships do not qualify for this extension.

On more than a few occasions the cust rep was unaware of Amazon's Prime extension rule and I've had to read it to them / tell them where I'm seeing it on their site. lol. Now Amazon has added that stipulation that you can only get a max of one Prime extension per month (12 per 1 year membership) but it didn't used to say that. I'm probably the reason for that change. lol

Where I live Amazon used to never be able get a package to me on time. Fed Ex or UPS didn't matter. They were always at least one day late and we typically place orders a few times a week. That went on for years to the point where I got so many Prime extensions added to my account that I went more than 4 years on my first year's membership before I ever had to renew, and honestly I let them slide most of the time. I didn't call anywhere close to every time I ordered and it came late. Just one or two times a month, just enough to keep kicking my renew date down the road. After a while I just got tired of calling all the time and actually started to feel a bit guilty so I let my membership come up for renewal despite them still more often than not unable to get a package to me by the 'guaranteed' delivery date.

As it turns out Amazon finally figured the best service to get packages to where I live on time is USPS. All of my Amazon Prime deliveries come USPS now and almost all make it on time. Not all the time though, and when they don't, I usually make the call and get a month added.

And if they really flub up an order and it takes weeks longer for a Prime item, I've gotten a discount on my next purchase applied in addition to having a month added to my membership, and they don't usually mention it but the next order usually gets bumped to "One-Day-Shipping" for free also. Interestingly enough, "One-Day-Shipping" orders do come from UPS or FedEx (usually the latter) and they always have made it on time, so they do know how to get a package where I live on time, just apparently not for whatever Amazon pays them for a normal Prime shipment.

Believe it or not I'm still waiting on my order from Toolsource. Since the "ETA of 12/20/16 and that is past due" and that the "back order has been pushed out until approximately the 2nd week of January"and then the "new ETA date is 1/20/17" I mentioned here a few posts back on Jan 13, I've since gotten a "They have informed me the new ETA for this item is 02/02/17" and then a "I just spoke with them and there are 300 units due into their facility on Friday. It should be available for shipment by Tuesday the 14th" and each time the ETA passes with no contact from toolsource and no deliveries showing as enroute via myUPS/myFedEx/myUSPS, so I have to contact them again each time and see what they have to say.

I really don't want to cancel the order, but I'd already gave up waiting several weeks back and bought the same Williams M-52EHFA 1/4" dr flex ratchet on ebay and converted it to 3/8dr with a Snap-On RKRFC936 kit. Now I just would like to get this ratchet I've paid for and waited so long for. I plan on leaving it 1/4 dr, assuming it ever arrives.

On the topic of ToolsDelivered. I have made 2 purchases in the past for socket sets and have been quick to ship.

This last order was for shallow impact sockets and after a day later it went out of stock on the site. My card was charged on the 16th so I assumed they must be dropshipping it because for me, called twice with no answer and used their contact us message thingy with no response so far. Either Williams is taking forever to dropship or they are waiting for their inventory to arrive. I'm not a fan of places that charge your card before shipment/dropship.

I'm not a fan either of getting charged upon order for a product they have listed for sale with no mention when ordering that it's not something they actually have in stock and that it will be drop shipped or whatnot from whoever whenever.

I paid back in mid-December to Toolsource for a Williams ratchet and am still waiting. I just got another email reply today for what I believe is delay number six: "JH Williams did not receive the product they thought they were going to. There was a delay in their shipments. They gave me an estimate ship date of 03/03/17."

I'm sure not holding my breath. it may well be that all the delays are Williams' fault, but as every day that passes it's Toolsource that gets less and less likely that I would ever order anything from them again.

Yea, It probably is Williams' delays since they are talking to you. I haven't heard anything yet on my end. I'll give it another week and if i don't hear back from them. RIP

I just ordered a bunch of Williams ratcheting wrenches last month from toolsdelivered. No problems, but yes, they were OOS on the bigger set 13/16" thru 1". I was able to just order the four part numbers individually for about $10 more.

Just got an email saying they are cancelling my order due to unknown timeline on availability. Sounds like Williams doesn't know when they will make more. I bet JD been bothering Williams just took a bit longer to tell me than I would have liked.

Calling Abolox Tools to see if they have a set in stock, only a few bucks more.
RIP they out too..talked about Snap On's supply chain issues they been having.
Pro Torque Tools is calling Williams to get a definite..or..not so definite answer.

Remind me why I am so OCD on getting a matching socket set when ALL my other sockets(all my chrome sockets and deep impact) are all Williams.(all USA minus 1/2 6pt..lame..)

Williams is in the process of making 100 sets for "someone" and will start sending out sets after that in late March. BALLS

Prob important to know what I am wanting to order MS-4-16RC(Shallow Impact Set)

Seriously doubt I'll ever see this ratchet I ordered from ToolSource back in mid-Dec.

Would you have asked for a refund by now?

If this is a serious question, I would fly over the head of the retailer and call Williams/SnapOn industrial and have them put something in writing. There is either a known issue with the supply chain or toolsource is something else is up. maybe with the retailer...you never know the games industrial companies and internet reseller/drop shippers are playing these days. :wtf:

Williams has some serious issues. Its definitely not their fault. I contacted several companies about getting a Williams socket set.. none could give me a solid answer.

I had the same issue with Williams and it was also a USA made ratchet, mine was a Warranty direct from Williams. They took care of me,but it did take forever. I think based on several delays I faced , about 4 months on the warranty the issue is with Williams either not having or producing the product with the Williams name on it.

FWIW, I've ordered from Toolsdelivered on a handful of occasions. Last time, they were out of stock in one thing, and gave an ETA. As I was reorganizing my toolbox (cutting the mats to stick down the wrench rails to the steel drawer bottoms), I didn't want to wait, so I ordered it from a place that indicated it was normal (I forget whether it said "in stock" or "usually ships in 2-4 days"). At any rate........they both drop shipped, and the place that didn't say it was back ordered was way off on timing.

So my lesson learned here is for Williams, I'm sticking with Toolsdelivered.

When I ordered the Williams M-52EHFA 1/4" dr flex ratchet from toolsource there was no indication the item wasn't in stock. It's still listed that way.

https://www.toolsource.com/14-in-dr...sh-flex-head-ratchet-36t-7-in-l-p-126316.html

They took the money for the order and didn't even send me as much as a confirmation email. After almost 2 weeks with hearing nothing at all from them I emailed asking if they could give me some idea when the item might ship, and that began the back-and-forth email chain of 8 consecutive missed ETAs for over the past 3+ months now that I posted a few posts back.

edit: Looking at the same item at ToolsDelivered, it shows as 'out of stock' and won't let you order but you can ask to be put on the waiting list. Yeah, that would be a better business model imho.

Don't know about that, I asked to be put on the waiting list for an item 3 months ago and have heard absolutely nothing from them. Took 6 phone calls and two days just to get someone human on the phone. Hope others have better luck with this company than I have had so far

Yeah, that was exactly my point. I had forgotten the detail about the wait list. But now that you bring it up, I remember them notifying me it was back in stock a day or two before I got a ship notification from the other place (Abalox, I think it was)......which is why I assume they are all drop shipped.

At any rate, lesson learned in my case. Good luck getting yours resolved.

I ordered a Williams socket to fill in a set. This was over a month ago. I called and the manager called Snap On and said it would be in around March 13th. and he would email me a shipping number as soon as Snap on shipped. I still haven't got an update. This was a sister company to protorquetools.

They took the money for the order...

this is the red-flag part of this whole thing...the "retailer" company doesn't have enough working capital to place orders from the wholesaler without having the customer front the cash? that means they don't have appropriate w/c line of credit from either the wholesaler or a bank. In general, that's a red flag and I would make sure to call in advance to confirm future order if ever do this again.

companies should not bill customer on normal purchases until there is stock on hand and/or the product has shipped. any thing else means the seller is looking for a free loan of your money paid on your credit card.

I would seriously call williams. They will tell you if they are having some kind of "apex" like inventory issue or not. Then I would cancel if they don't have a clear timeline going forward and a good explantion. At least in theory. Maybe in reality I would also be a bit lazy and hopeful for another week or two...who knows.:spit:

I waited about 45 days and the item showed up on Amazon. I ordered it and it was delivered within 3 days,
I cancelled my order and got a paypal rebate the same day. They had use of my money for 45 days.
I don't know if Snap On sold the item to Amazon or they broke up a set.

I decided to try this but was unable to find a phone number for Williams. All I did find online for Williams was an email addy of industrialbrands [at] snapon.com which I did send an email on Tues Mar 28 and did not yet receive a reply.

When I called them with an issue with some Williams stuff, I used the Snap-On Industrial Brands number. 800-446-7404

Update: Well, after all this time and several doubtful posts to this thread, the Williams ratchet I ordered from Toolsource back in December finally did arrive on Fri. I never did get a response to the email message I sent to Williams (where I basically asked them if Toolsource was being honest me and Williams had been yanking Toolsource's chain, or was Toolsource just yanking my chain) but I suspect that might have been what finally got this thing on its way. Shipped from IDSC Holdings (Snap On) in Greenville S.C.. Now that I have it I'm glad I didn't cancel the order, but I don't suspect I'll be ordering anything else through them anytime soon.

I called pro torque tools again to see if they had the socket set i was looking for, still nothing. He said he has heard William's is moving plants, which would be a good reason for a long delay of no production.
