I have a craftsman 26" bottom roll box, I bought it just for extra storage as my waterloo box just became too unorganized, I bought the low end model, non-ball bearing slides, 26", regular craftsman, it works just fine for what I use it for and have no complaints. I want to grab a top chest for it, and hoenstly I could care less if the top is ball bearing or not, im looking for the lowest price. The only thing I do want is the deeper drawers, I do not want the standard 26" x 12" top chest with 10.75" drawers I want the 16"deep top chest. I see Lowes has a kobalt one problem is its 27" wide so that wont work, any other suggestions?

Check what the tool truck dealers took on trade or repoed. You might get a good deal on one.Auctions are another place to check and sometimes go cheap.

Hi, on using 27 inch wide with 26 inch bottoms, yeah, you can do it.
Kind of Mickey Mouse, but full workable.

I've had to do it back when I used 26 inch boxes.
What you do is cut a sheet of any kind of wood to fit the top exactly, then screw/bolt the piece to the top box, as a bottom. Then drop it in.
A nice chunk of 3/4 scrap plywood can often be snagged at Lowe's for a couple bucks.

Just be sure your cut piece is high enough for the lip on the box.
It helps if you shoot some rattle can spray paint to match the color of the boxes.

Again, Mickey Mouse, but I had two boxes set up that way in my shop for a year or so, and nobody even noticed.
Husky makes top boxes a little too wide as do several other builders.

Oh, additional thought, get a large deep intermediate box rather than a top box, or even two intermediate boxes, and you have a big square work/setup space on top, rather than a often useless open tray.
