I'm looking to make a top side creeper. I think that's what it's called. Something I can lay on, to get on top of an engine, or over a fender.

Something like the picture. Anyone have any plans or sketches. I have some ideas, but like some more info.

This is sick - have never heard of this before. Would need to be adjustable so it can work with different height vehicles.

I have a top side creeper, it works great.

As far as building it goes, why? It isn't just a simple platform, it adjusts two ways so that you can work on everything from car to lifted trucks. I'm generally for building things, but in this case it doesn't make sense since you can buy them on Amazon for $167.

Are you trying to save money or is there something you don't like about the one pictured? For $170 it would be tough to save a lot of money and still have it adjustable and foldable.

Haven't even compared making one to buying one yet. Just looking to see what others have done. Material is not an issue, or the fab. work. Could be a fun project, if it's not to expensive.

If you build one, make it the folding style. Mine is the first version, and it takes up a lot of room when not in use.

I have the folding style and love it. Yes it does adjust for different height vehicles. Worth every penny.

I've tossed around the idea of making some sort of adapter for my 2-post lift to accomplish the same thing. The concept is there, but the actual design hasn't solidified in my head yet. If even possible?

You could just hook your belt to a cherry picker and hoist away...

Seriously, I wish I had one of those when I painted my crew cab. Would have made painting the acre of roof a lot easier.
