Toptul interest?

Anyone interested in a "group buy" of Toptul? I just found out from one of our parts suppliers in Germany that they have a few Toptul tools as well and they are included in our dealer pricing.

Just thought I'd throw it out there. From my understanding there is limited distribution in the US.

A few items I know they have:

I'm placing a order later this week and throwing a few on just because.

Sorry if I posted this in the wrong section.

These are great tools that deserve a better distribution in the USA.

How much is the cost in US dollars with shipping? Are you able to pass the wholesale cost on? Thanks for the info.

If we order over 200 Euro its free shipping to the US (we order that in stock each time regardless). Then it would just be shipping from here (84111) to you. Probably $10-$15. No problem passing wholesale on, it seems like its about $10-50 for tools depending on what it is.

Example:
16pc Combo wrench set - $52.98 - Wholesale $32.80
20pc Screwdriver set $34.58 - Wholesale - $25.23

I thought they were taiwanese rebrands mostly. We probably already get similar stuff here. Just saying. Different people (even with the same stuff) prefer different brands, I don't knock it unless the price difference is f-ing crazy enough for me to say "don't be a dumbkoff."

Above correct for 1.18 Euro to USD conversion rate????

GB = Group Buy

https://www.google.com/?gws_rd=ssl#q=euro+to+dollar+converter+chart+calculator

OP give more DETAILED examples of typical sets that GJer's would want, and their USD estimated Group Buy price (see EDIT below for examples).

I'd be interested to join in the Group Buy.

EDIT: More possible examples if I've got the 1.18 Euro to USD conversion correct.
OP please verify that my calculations are approximately correct at "retail" and let us know what approximate group buy (GB) price might be.

That 1/4 + 1/2 5-27mm 27pc ratchet set looks tasty. At 47.89€ or about $58 retail, I'd guess wholesale would be around $35, and I'd jump on that in a heartbeat.

All prices on their website are in Euros. The flags are just for language selection.
Currently 1 Euro = $1.18 USD.
The selection they have is mainly 1/4" (they sell parts for scooters/mopeds, pretty rare if anything bigger than 1/4" is used).

I'd be interested if I could get their ratchets separately, not as part of a set. I don't use metric all that often.

I have one Toptul ratchet (1/4, comfort grip, flex handle, quick release) and it is my go-to in that size. Beautiful tool.

These are the OEM syblings to FACOM 440 and MAC, not some junk brands

Not sure why you need to :lol_hitti on this thread

There is one Toptul 'dealer' in the US (a hobbyist really), He is retired and depending upon your perspective he is either a shrewd businessman who tells you how it is or he is rude and arrogant. He will tell you that he does not care if you buy from him or not as he will be rich either way. I am sure it is true but not a public relations A+ move.

He will also only deal in metric either because he thinks it is best or stock issues. He will provide a GJ 'discount' which is exactly what eBay charges in fees (10%) so not really a discount for hearing about him here on GJ. To determine his price find the item on eBay. Your discounted price is 10% off of that. I am not bashing the guy he is what he is, you can look him up here or also likely he will be posting soon. He does have a good eBay rating FWIW.

If Bull wants in on your GB -and he knows about the other guy- I am in w/you

You can count me in on a purchase or two as well.

What's the price on this set?
http://www.scooter-center.com/en/pr..._ALL_en*s18910511573984*toptul 1/2*21*21*1*40

I'll either want that set, or the smaller combo set.

I am aware of the other fellow of whom you speak.

I would prefer to pursue this current option, though I am guessing the ratchets I want are not an option as they are not on the scooter website.

Now that I'm looking on my PC instead of my phone, and my reading comprehension has improved... I'm definitely in for the 16 piece set for $32.80

I'll look over the website some more and post if anything else jumps out at me.

I just received and email from the other Toptul guy on an item I had asked him about. He indicated once they are gone they are gone forever. This leads me to believe this guy will be out of the Toptul business.

For me I decided not to buy from this guy, I just could not stand the idea of dealing with a guy who acted as he did on this forum. Yes I get it that a 40 or 50 dollar purchase nets a small time retailer 15.00 or so after all expenses are factored in but I want to operate with someone that appreciates that the 15.00 profit came from me and I just did not get that from this guy.

This guy here. Oddly, I thought I had a name dnschmidt, but this guy will do. Amazing! From my initial posting on this board I thought that I had made it CRYSTAL CLEAR that what I was selling on EBay was the EXTRA products that my friends and I had bought for ourselves that came in standard box quantities. Since there are only three of us being forced to buy five and 10 items in a box does lead to extras. These I sell.

The fact that when the "extras" are gone that they will not be reordered should surprise no one. Getting rid of extra stock means it's something I and my friends already have that we no longer need. Obviously, I'm not going to buy more of what I already have.

With respect to this thread I hope this works out for all of you but I do have a couple of questions. I can't send a set of wrenches from Phoenix to Pennsylvania for under $20 in UPS or FedEx charges (in fact some times the shipping charges I charge on EBay are less than what I actually have to pay UPS or FedEx) and this guy gets FREE SHIPPING on a dinky $200 order from GERMANY to Salt Lake City. How the hell does that happen? Tools are heavy, air freight is super expensive, believe me I looked into it with TOPTUL, how the hell do you ship anything from GERMANY to Salt Lake City for free. A damn letter from the US to Germany cost $1.20 in postage. LET ME IN ON THE SECRET. I really want to know. I've got tons of family in Germany. If they can ship me Stahlwille and Hazet for free (and without customs charges, freight forwarding charges and duty) I'm REALLY going into business not just screwing around on EBay.

I've placed three orders with TOPTUL all were for greater than $4,000 at a time. Each time the freight charges were close to $1,000. This includes the sea freight, the customs clearance, the duty and the trucking of the shipment to Phoenix, AZ to a warehouse where I have to pay $80 to pick up my pallet. If I can get free freight on $200 dollar orders from Germany screw TOPTUL I'm going back to The Fatherland for my stuff.

I can tell you that the prices on the German website are UNBELIEVABLY good. How these guys can live with a 10% to 20% margin is amazing to me, but hey, if I can get 1 each of a great tool at a time from these guys I'LL USE THEM MYSELF. But remember if something seems too good to be true if often is and to me that seems to be the case here. I hope not since I'm a consumer of TOPTUL tools. If I can buy one at a time at close to the same price each that I'm paying TOPTUL for full boxes I'm all in.

Once they are gone the only TOPTUL tools I will be reordering to sell on EBay are the top sellers. For example the super long combination wrench sets blow out of here so I am reordering them.

The how I acted on this forum comment amuses me (in a Joe Pesci kind of way). I told the truth, I explained exactly what I was doing and why I was doing it. If that in some manner upset people I don't think there is much I can do about it. My friends and I drive Porsche 911's, we ordered the tools for ourselves to work on OUR cars, there are no SAE bolts on a Porsche 911. That's why I ordered no SAE tools. The vitriol that has been directed at me, for reasons I fail to fathom, amazes me. I'm a guy who bought tools to work on his car and I've got some extras to sell. Have none of you ever been it that position? The fact that I don't care if you buy from me or not is because this is such a minor part of my life that I really don't care. Should I fake like I do? Should I pretend that I live or die on every $10 order. Am I to be flogged for stating what should be obvious to anybody after reading the above explanation?

Just as an aside, and in case anyone cares, I'm on my second order now with dnschmidt and he has been nothing but fully communicative, up front and straightforward on everything. Very prompt shipping of items, and I got better quality than expected (NOS), especially on 20+ year old tools!! I guess some people are perceived as "stand-offish" because they don't pull punches. I don't pull punches either so perhaps that's why I understand his ways and don't have the perception with which dnschmidt has been burdened by most on GJ. Anyway, 1 happy customer here. Thanks Dennis.

Is there some kind of flag button so we can keep these guys from polluting this thread? Nobody wants to hear about this from either side...

I've read these threads before and these disputes were about $20 invoice on ebay

Wow. Didn't think a thread about a source of Toptul from a scooter shop would turn into people getting this butthurt. I'm not trying to seal business from other distributors or even profit off this. Just passing a "deal" on. Guess this turned into a mistake.

No one is criticizing you for anything or perceiving you to be taking business from anyone. Mr. Schmidt is really the only Toptul presence on eBay, which is why his name has come up. As you can see, opinions about his attitude vary.

Now, Mr. Schmidt did pose some questions about the pricing of tools on that site and the free overseas shipping that you have access to. If you'd care to respond to those, that would be interesting.

I've been pleased with the business I've conducted with him as well. He seems more than fair. And to be honest, he has been giving what he's been getting...I'd be a little upset too if I came into a thread and found whispering going on about me.

As someone who has been in the shipping business for about 3 years, I can tell you that you that it's not that complicated or expensive once you start getting into discounts from the big companies. Obviously someone as yourself, other Dennis (or guy, or just Dennis), won't be receiving these types of discounts, but bigger companies with a decent amount of business will receive deep discounts on shipping.

Regardless, all of my family is from Germany too, and I've certainly thought about asking them to send me tools... or bring some over on their trips. Shipping with DHL/Deutsche Post doesn't appear to be as bad on their end either.
