I know theres a member of GJ selling Toptul stuff on ebay. Is there another vendor selling their tools ? Back when Wren tools first started I made a pretty large purchase of 1/2" drive sockets. Mike was missing some of the sizes at the time and said they would be coming in with the next shipment. Well, that never happened and now Im missing about a dozen different sockets.
I'd like to find them instead of adding other brands.

Lucky you, I've just had a shipment of sockets come in. Send me a PM with your Email address in it and I'll send you my current inventory list.

I bought from wren, ultimate garage and a Canadian website something toolbox in the past. All of them dropped the line it seems.

Dnschmidt seems to be the only current seller in the us. Luckily Dan is pretty awesome. If you prepay he will include whatever you request on his next order. It can take a few months but it is worth it.

Send him a message and he will email you an inventory list.

I have tried to order from European suppliers but after shipping it gets expensive.

mikester,

To my surprise, Mike Wren's Toptul sales business is alive and well. A GJ member bought from him some Toptul hand tools from him last month and created a post here: LINK. I have purchased from Mike Wren some hand tools in the past. However, I had to call him multiple times to complete the transaction. If you click on the above link, Mike Wren has been unresponsive to GJ members willing to do business with him in the last few years. If I were you, I would stick with Dennis Schmidt.

I don't know, I'll have to think about it. Oh well, OK, at least you're here on the West Coast and the shipping doesn't kill me so I'll forgive you.

This is funny, some of the stuff I sell (like the extra long combination wrenches) will only fit into a USPS regional box B the cost of which depends upon where the person you're shipping it to lives. On EBay I charge $13 or $15 shipping for these, I forget, figuring it will even out since if they are going West of the Mississippi the box goes for like $10 and if you live on the Atlantic Ocean it goes for like $18.00. It's just my rotten luck that 8 out of 10 go to the East Coast. If you lived in Maine you'd be done.

Ditchdigger, you're a great customer but apparently bad with names. Dennis, or Denny, not Dan.

So you're ok with Dennis, Denny or ******** but not with Dan eh?

Ok :dunno:

Lol happy new year Dennis.

Well... speak of the Toptul. My sockets came in today from dnschmidt.

I don't know what USPS did to this thing but the box was in horrible shape:

But the sockets were well protected with packing material and they had plastic wrap taped tight around them so there was no risk of a socket falling out or anything.

Toptul sockets are super nice. I think they give my Wrights a run for their money on quality. The satin finish is pretty unique on sockets too so they kind of stand out.

I've ordered from dnschmidt several times and it's been a good experience each time. If you're looking for Toptul I'd go with him. Just don't try to get a refund because two of your wrenches got frisky in the mail.

How the Post Office does what it does to my packages mystifies me. I pack this stuff as well as humanly possible and they still find a way to crush it. LXCam, your prices just went up way up.

How more doesn't get destroyed or lost is the real mystery. The pace at which packages get slung around in sorting centers is pretty incredible, Most of the actual "handling" is automated and damage is usually from something getting hung up on the machines.

I think the problem I have is due to the weight of the stuff I put in the box. How the hell a flat rate box would hold 70# is quite beyond me. When I send out sets of wrenches or sockets typically they weigh under 10# but they still get messed over. For one thing the flat rate boxes are made from very thin cardboard. That could be the key problem.

Yes, you can clearly see this in the third picture. The corners are relieved.

I don't think there are any "teeth" or anything though. Still they're six point sockets that completely enclose the fastener so I would wager without teeth you could probably sheer off a bolt.

Dennis, I sent you a PM requesting your inventory documentation.

Does anyone have a link to that stupid thread with the guy complaining about the wrenches? lol

Kunk, that thread you're referring to was pretty humorous.

I'll vouch for Dennis as well. Great tools at a fantastic price. As a matter of fact, I should be receiving my set of deep offset, double box end wrenches on Monday. I'm looking forward to putting them to work.

Quick question for you though Dennis, any reason why you chose to sell the 10 piece XXL combo wrench set over the 12 piece? I figure you did it because most people won't need an XXL wrench in anything under 10mm, but my OCD craves the other two wrenches hahaha.

TOPTUL only makes the XXL combination wrenches from 10mm to 19mm. This is the GAAF1008 set that I sell. They also make a lesser set called the GAAM0706 but it doesn't contain 15 or 18 mm which if you own an American car are critical. There are no other two wrenches. Check the site: http://www.toptul.com/style/frame/t...92173&content_set=color_4&rid=58091&id=325398

In short you've got me confused as this style of super long combination wrench is not made an any other sizes than those in the GAAF1008 set.

Firworks, To my knowledge only open end wrenches have teeth (such as Wrightgrip) to improve grip. However, I know of no sockets with teeth. What exactly would they accomplish in a six point socket? The point of the corner reliefs (which Snap-On invented and called Flank Drive) is to prevent the corners of the nuts or bolts from being stressed.

I guess they could have teeth to mess up a fastener? :dunno:  I think I've only ever seen teeth on open end wrenches as well. But yeah most of the socket brands have some kind of off corner engagement to try to prevent rounding fasteners and the Toptuls have them as well.

EDIT: Looks like this set was made up of the AAEA series wrenches, so, the long combination wrenches and not the extra-long ones.

AH! Looks like I was confused by this set: GAAF1202 (The set is no longer produced though the wrenches are.)

Here's a few links to the set:

Not saying they're necessary, but MAC does make a socket that has teeth. Our good friend woodstockva did a review on them.

Hey Dennis, I asked earlier, but I was wondering if it is possible to order this kit from you/Toptul? MacPherson Spring Dumper Extractor JGAI0801

I know for your business it's more economical to order tools as sets. Does this qualify for you as a set?

I just ordered some 1/2" deep sockets to finish out my set, 20mm and 23mm-32mm. I also got what I'm most excited about, the GPAP0602 flat type extra-long double ring wrench. I used to have the GPAP0601 in mirror chrome finish, but the satin chrome looks so much better. Mirror chrome in general looks so mid 20th century.

As always I am extremely satisfied with my transaction with Dennis.

The JGAI0801 is extremely expensive. I would have to charge you $400.00 for that tool. It can be ordered individually but I believe it to be vastly overpriced. It looks like a really nice tool in the catalog but hell for $800 you can buy a Branick.

The set you reference is not the XXL wrenches. It's simply the XL wrenches. I can get the XL wrenches but I never considered them to be that different from other Long Combination Wrenches to merit my carrying them.

What you people here need to understand is that you and I know how great TOPTUL is. The problem is that nobody else in America does. That's why I try to bring in the tools that TOPTUL makes that are either unique or exceptional values.

That's why nobody will ever make a living selling TOPTUL in America. TOPTUL has zero understanding of the American market and the American market is just too tough to get into in a serious way without total commitment from TOPTUL and trust me that's never going to happen. This is a time killing hobby for me and will always remain as such. That's reality.

I've gotten tools from Dennis. I've only done one order so far, but there will be more orders. Much more on the wishlist, and now that the holidays are over, I can pick up a thing or two to add into the tool box. Good to chat with, ships quickly, and the products are rather nice for the money.

Sockets, and XL wrenches are on the shortlist.

Yikes! That's pricey! I can't swing a Brannick either, but it looks like there is a similar (knockoff?) version of the Toptul set on eBay for about $85 bucks. I might have to go that route. I wonder if they come from the same factory? Thanks for the quote though.

That's a shame. They have much higher quality tools than Harbor Freight. They could make a killing over here if they tried.

I'll second that. My exposure has been limited, but what exposure I have had has been incredibly positive.

I just received my first TopTul order and I'm really hapy with the quality for the $$$. I bought the short offset wrenches with the satin finish. That finish is really nice. I wish more tool makes would use it.

Never understood the mirror chrome obsession, I'll take satin every time. Each to their own though...........

It's sooo purdy. When I was putting wrench racks in my box the other day I took all my chrome Wrightgrips in my hands in a big pile and it was like holding a pile of jewelry or something I just felt like this:

Hi Dennis, sent you a pm about Toptul, drop me a line

He might respond more quickly if you send a message to his eBay account. That is, if he hasn't already responded. I often don't get an email from GJ when I get a PM, but I'm SURE eBay will send him an email if you message him there. There's money on the line so they've got a huge incentive to make sure everything works every time.
