This forum is the first place I heard about Toptul tools. I looked them up on the internet. Could someone tell me where they are made and how well they perform? Thanks.

They're very well made and seem to peform fine from what I've heard. They're made in China. The main problem with Toptul is trying to get ahold of the US distributor, Mike Wren. He's a very nice guy but it seems that he doesn't answer emails based upon my own experiences and some of those I've seen posted here.

You might be able to get an order in with him eventually, but I shudder at the thought of trying to get a warranty replacement.

The Canadian site that sells Toptul (www.thetoolchest.ca) has a great deal on shipping......$5 flat rate to the USA or in Canada. They have a decent selection and it's expanding quite often.

I've ordered quite a bit from them and am very pleased with their service and the Toptul tools seem fantastic. The guy who runs the site has gone out of his way for me a couple of times now. Check em out.

Well, as I've posted before, I am very happy with all of my Toptul stuff.

I have never had a problem getting in touch with Mike. He has always answered my calls and emails right away. Many people have said the same. However, enough people have said the exact opposite that I believe it seems to be hit or miss with him. Not sure why the customer service seems inconsistent. With me it's been great, others claim to just hear crickets.

Ultimate Garage carries Toptul in the States as well. Might want to reach out there.

Don't worry about getting warranty replacements--Toptul never breaks ;)

I got the Toptul 3/8flex-head rat from a member, new, for $25 and don't know why he sold it, very nice wrench. Maybe some don't care for the button release or matt finish, but its got nice length/leverage & comfortable smaller grip. I missed the complete set [all 3 dr sizes, both Metric & SAE, short & deep] of sockets for under $50. He sold 'cause they weren't polished. Don't see 'em offered much.

I've dealt with Mike Wren too, he was excellent each time I got in touch. The Canadian site is just easier for me.

Yes, they are made in Taiwan by Rotar.

I love their ratchets--more than my Dual 80's. But, I think that's because of the comfort grip. I need to get a dual 80 comfort grip to really compare apples to apples.

Yeah, it's Taiwan, which is sorta but not really China. Taiwan is a "renegade provence" as far as the chicoms are concerned. Taiwan is not "PRC" it is "ROC". Has a different passport, different money, and to some extent has national sovereignty.

Sadly, the United States, since 1979, does not recognize Taiwan as an independent nation. Shame on us.

Anyway, very nice quality tools, luscious chrome.

Thanks for information, got the wrenhandtools info from one of the links. Probably not going to get anything since I don't really need something...I know, never let need stand in my way yet. Never heard of Toptul here in the SE before.

I'd also never heard of them before this forum but they seem to be really good. There are guys using them a lot more and a lot harder than I am. I'm interested in hearing if any negative sentiments arise over time regarding specific areas of quality. So far, so good, I guess.

Try calling him maybe? I called the other day for pricing on something and he answered right away the first time. Really friendly straightforward guy too based off my conversation with him.

I have purchased a lot of toptul from Mike Wren on here. Originally it was going to be my backup at work for my cman stuff. It has instead taken over and now my go to tools. I love my toptul stuff. As for warranty I broke the collar on one of my locking extensions, and had no issue with mike warrantying it. Ive purchased everything from torx screwdrivers to wrenches to socket sets to ratchets from mike. ALL of it is quality. There is a major thread on toptul including many pictures of stuff including the stuff ive purchased under the Product and Vender reviews section.

I highly recommend their stuff :)

I also agree that they are great quality. I also was skeptical, but bought a 1/4 drive set from Mike to try out. Eight months later I must say I'm pretty impressed. I do autobody so my 10mm and 13mm get used almost all day long every day. Aside from light scratching on the chrome, which is normal, the inside of the socket looks brand new. Absolutely no "rounding out" of the drive part of the socket. A Craftsman 10mm would "round out" and look like hell after 6 or so months. IMHO they are a great value. Also, you will have better luck calling Mike. He has been great to deal with in my case.

 I agree. Mike's always either answered my calls promptly or returned them in a timely manner. I've been satisfied with everything I've gotten. I'd like to get more, but I've got too much invested in what I already have and am too old to start over.

I have a few Toptul items, impact sockets & extensions, cantilever tool box, 18" breaker bar, set of 45* offset box wrenches and a few misc. items.

I have been happy with everything I've gotten, so far everything is holding up good no problems.

I do wish they would mark the tools with "Taiwan" though.

I think it's better to call Mike on the phone, rather than email him. My emails seemed to get lost, so I phoned him recentlly. Nice guy to talk to, sounds like he's going to be getting some great inventory in the next few months, just didn't have the stuff I needed right now in stock.

FYI, if you're interested in the Toptul 'gearwrenches' it sounds like there's deals to be had on them...
