This deal is due to an inaccurate listing on the Walmart website. If you order the pair of jack stands for in store pickup they will try to give you one single jack stand. If you are willing to put the time and effort into getting a manager to make things right than it is a good deal. Probably not worth it unless they have a bunch in stock nearby and you are buying in bulk.

Name brand jackstands at $3 a piece, don't think it gets cheaper than that.

Thanks. The pair rated at 2 tons (together) isn't much good for vehicles, but they're perfect for mowers and farm stuff for support. Wish my local Walmart had more in stock.

If I didn't already have ones that were rated heavier I would jump on those. I have a couple of cars that are under 1500lbs. They would work nice if restoring a frame or Model T.

Their 2 tons thats 4000 lbs, most cars don't weigh that much. Chances are your not supporting the car on all four corners.

For 22.99 you can buy the craftsman professional 4 ton. Seems a safer and more functional option.

Was a big hassle picking up in store. Apparently the single jack stands have the same sku as the 2 pack and that is what they tried to give me. Got a manager to adjust price. Good deal but not worth the time unless picking up several pairs. Definitely don't drive out of your area to get them because you might get turned down.

Mine turned into a mess also. I decided why not I use that size to hold up parts on suspensions and that is only $3 each. I can put them in the second garage across town or one of the enclosed trailers. Online I ordered 3 pair. Got the confirmation email. I waited and hour because I know how that stuff goes in case they called to cancel it. I went there which isn't close (20 mile rd trip) but I'm bored anyway. They had substituted 3 individual new style black ones. She said sorry that substitution is all we can do for you. They price adjusted them from $8.44 each to $6. So double the original price. I returned them and had them credit back my card. I have no problem with them not having them. Substituting without an email or phone call I have a big problem with.

Right and I am pretty sure each stand is rated at 2 tons. I have a set of these that came with a floor jack set I picked up awhile back and their fine jack stands. I just ordered another set! Thanks for sharing this deal!!! They cost $22.41 /pair at Home Depot.

I'm under the impression that the rated load is for a pair of stands due to the Torin product manual stating "always use jack stands in pairs, on the same axle, at the same height". At the same time it is hard to believe that if the rated capacity of two tons is split between two stands that their liability lawyers would allow them to sell the stands individually with a clearly marked two ton capacity on the stand.

US Jack are the only stands I know of rated per stand not per pair. Would not put a vehicle I'm crawling under on any torins regardless of weight.

I did a quick search and your right, the rating is per pair.

The industry standard for jack stand load rating is to rate jack stands in pairs. To satisfy ANSI standards. According to ANSI standards, a single jack stand from a pair must support one and one half times the total rated load for the pair. That means a single jack stand for a pair rated at 4000 pounds must support 6000 pounds.

Good info, thanks!

The description from the Walmart ad page states:

About this item
2 heavy-duty steel jack stands
Double-locking pawl and tooth design
Weight capacity: 2 tons (total)
Lifting range: 10.3 - 16.3 inches
Built-in handle for easy lifting

http://www.walmart.com/ip/48580163?u1=31a1da42362e11e6af87a6ab08a3071c0INT&oid=289955.1&wmlspartner=lw9MynSeamY&sourceid=20666944031162423495&affillinktype=10&veh=aff#about

So it looks like there should be two stands in the package. Weight capacity is the Total weight so it would be split across the pair of stands (2000 lbs. each).

I ordered a set (Last one in stock) for pick up at my local store.

Just got an email that they are ordering from another store since they couldn't find them.

We'll see if they get one or two. I'll call first to find out, before I go over. Will take a few days.

I ordered 2 sets today. Just got a call saying the item online was referencing the wrong item in the store and they were refunding my money and were contacting home office and the online store to correct the problem. Just an FYI.

Just got mine. They also pulled a single black one. At first he made it sound like he was gonna substitute a 2-pack of 3-tons, but he ended up coming back with another black single.

Went to the store this morning to pick up my 2 boxes of Big Red Jack Stands. As soon as I got there I knew that my order was incorrect as I saw two black jack stands with my name on them on the counter. Waited forever for the Pickup Clerk to show up. Got tired of waiting and asked an employee to contact the Store Manager for me. She showed up and I explained to her my original order was for two boxes of Big Red Jack Stands - for a total of 4 jack stands, not the two waiting on the counter (BTW - there were two more sitting there as well, another customer waiting to be screwed). Went to the auto section of the store only to see that there was not even a spot for the Big Red Jack Stands (in-store inventory reflected 4 of them prior to my ordering). Finally convinced the Manager to allow me to get two boxes of the 3 Ton Jack Stands for the same price as the Big Red ($5.91 each) and that by doing so, she will have enough of the 2 Ton Jack Stands for the other customer who will also be expecting 4 when he arrives to pick up her order. Spent more time that I wanted at Walmart, but happy with the final deal. Now I have to go back on Wednesday to pick up the Torin Lug Wrench I ordered yesterday.......seems that they are discounting both the 4 Way and Expandable Wrenches. Don't think that they are clearancing them as there were plenty of both in the store - and mine is being shipped to the store instead.

I had a terrible experience at my local Walmart today trying to pick a set of these up. They did the same thing, pulled one black stand and when I explained to the manager she seemed irradiated in the associate and sent him to get me another jack stand. After waiting another 15 mins. the associate comes back with another black jack stand to complete the set but the stand they originally attempted to give me was actually defective. So I asked to get a non defective set so the associate went looking again but found nothing. While he was looking another manager said she was going to take care of me but disappeared into thin air. I thought she was going to give me whatever set the had but I ended up walking away empty handed and pissed off. Nobody helped me and I wasted an hour of my day. To top things off the store was under heavy remodel and I could not even find a bottle of rubbing alcohol that I needed.

Sounds like a typical walmart experience!

to be honest, these jack stands seem cheap as hell.. but like others have said, great for light duty work. I wouldn't trust them to hold up my car while i'm under it.

I was looking at this and in the item description it specifically states "(One) heavy-duty steel jack stand" If you are getting two for this price, get it!

Then they changed it. It previously said "2 heavy-duty steel jack stands"
I had quoted the text earlier.

Thats pretty sneaky they changed it to 1. I've never seen seen jack stands sold as anything but in pairs..

Ordered online, had my ducks in a row when went to pick up, screen shoted order confirmation and item description. When handed one stand politely explained it was supposed to be a pair. Young kid got his manager who I went around with the the base and the saddle were an assembly that made up a single jackstand and therefore did not constitute a pair. Finally got two jackstands in the end
