The step-son wants to buy the Torin Jacks 750lbs Engine Stand from walmart for $49.95 to work on a Ford 302 engine. He doesnt want to use mine he wants his own. I offered to buy him a better one but he wants to pay for it himself (he's trying to do things himself at this age).

My concern is the strength and stability. It looks cheaply made and it has mixed reviews. I think it'll do fine as long as he isn't pounding on it (i.e. wrenching hard and knocking the engine around). And maybe changing out the bolts to a higher grade will make it better/sturdier???

Anybody on here use this one?

Don't know where you are, but around here CL is loaded with engine stands. Can probably find a better one for the same money. I recently picked a mint HF top of the line folding 4 wheel stand, that looks like a cherry picker for $60.

I look forward to the day I'm working on a project like that with one of mine. :)

Make sure he gets the four wheel type and keeps any warranty paperwork through expiration.

See if you can get the HF 4 wheel version for the same money with a coupon. Those 3 wheels are unstable.
