Torn between long pattern and standard SK

Currently have long pattern SAE, and to complete the set I have been eyeballing the long pattern metric set. However I already have long Matco ratcheting metric wrenches, and the standard sk set has more wrenches for a little cheaper (15 vs 13) so should I just pull the trigger on standard? Attached a picture of my standard length Matco 3/4, standard length bluepoint 3/4, long pattern sk 3/4 and long pattern Matco 19 for perspective of what I already have

Personally I'd go with the standard as there will be more situations where the long pattern won't be ideal vs the standard pattern.

I would opt for the long pattern. SK standard length wrenches are on the heavy side and their long patterns seem to have better balance to me. Their long pattern are only an inch or two longer than standard length depending on wrench size so, they're not that long where access would be affected. However, I'm not particularly fond of SK combination wrenches as I feel they are too thick/wide in the hips by the boxed end.

Long pattern is always better, but why SK? They're not the most ergonomic wrench with their squared beams and they have that excess material up by the box end that makes no sense.

My primary set of wrenches are older Craftsman Professionals which are just relabeled SK long pattern wrenches. I can't recall any times where I wished for a shorter wrench, and if clearance was an issue I've got a set of stubby wrenches I can go to. I would stick with the long pattern.

I'm not a SK hater, have lots of SK sockets, but you might want to check out Proto combos, they are a little longer than the standard SK and should be a little cheaper than the SK long pattern.

I would go for whatever is closer to the snap-on standard length. These seem ideal to me length wise although i use my facom 440's pretty constant and they're a bit shorter.

If your working with a lift long-ish spanners are fine, working on the ground lying on your back is a different story.

Have a look into the extra long metric set by Toptul, very good spanners, a good bit longer than most but plenty of leverage. Too long for use on the ground though imo.;

Long pattern would be my choice for a first set. They're about the same length as Snap-on standard ones.

I have both standard and long sets of SK. I don't think I've picked up a standard (read: short) in years. Go with the longs.

Young and strong, get the regular.
Old, fat, out of shape, get the long.

When you have a choice with the wrenches you have, which do you grab first?

Standard length will get into more places. I'd get that (standard length) now and if you feel the need for a longer wrench down the road, get the long pattern then.
