I have a master 100,000 btu kerosene torpedo heater. I turn it on and it works fine, takes a few moments to start up if it hasnt been used in a day, and it works fine for about 2 minutes, the cone gets red and all. But then after about 2 minutes the cone turns from red back to cold and another minutes it ill start dumping smoke all over the place. I checked the nozzle, and cleaned it. I checked the filter on the back and it was good, i even took it out to try it without the intake filter, no change. Everytime i plug it in it does that same cycle. This just started happening. I had been using for a few weeks everyday and then one day it started doing this, its not a problem thats gotten worse over time. I also tried fiddling with the adjustment knob on the back but no luck, i put it back to the original setting. Any advice?

Don't have the same heater (got a Mr Heater 175K) and it started acting up ...... would start okay and run through a couple cycles of on/off based on temp then "no go". She wouldn't ignite and I'd have raw fuel dripping out the nose. I turned up the pressure a bit based on suggestion in the manual and it seems to be much better. No smoking etc And BTW - I'm a cheap lazy SOB so I'm running #2 diesel.

I tried looking at the trouble shooting on that website but had no more luck. Today I fired it up and it worked fine for about an hour and then I shut it off. When I went to turn it on again, it did it again and shut off on me rather quickley and the garage filled up with smoke. Is there a way to see if the spark is getting weak after a while or something like that?

Something similar started happening to mine. I pulled the covers off and found a cracked vacuum hose in one of the safety systems. It looked to have dry-rotted over the summer. I fixed it and everything worked fine.

Check the rubber lines for leaks. They use a siphon style setup. The pump moves air thru one line which blows thru the fuel nozzle, this makes a vacuum which pulls fuel thru it and the air sprays the fuel out into a mist. a slight leak in any of the lines will cause long startup times and incorrect pattern. Also take the housing off the pump and flip the vanes around to the opposite side if they show wear. Be careful not to crack the black plastic housing as that will cause it not to pump at all. There will be a sticker somewhere on the unit stating what the psi should from the pump. usually around 4-6psi. Using 1/8" pipe and low pressure gauge, turn the adjustment screw to set the psi to the recommended pressure. Also the vent on the fuel tank cap might be plugged. Try running it without the fuel cap and see if that helps.

Mine flames out after 20 min
Replaced hoses , filter, cleaned nozzle, cleaned rotor, adjusted pressure with gauge, drained tank, replaced plug and cleaned eye. It runs like new for those 20 or so minutes until it flames out. No computer. What am I missing,?
