Hello,

The recent thread there was talk about torquing electrical equipment like breakers, lugs etc got me thinking about what tools people use to do that.

I did a quick search and Klein’s 6 piece set is about $299 and quite a but less on ebay but I am not sure if I would buy something like that there.

What do you guys use?

Thank you.

I have a few Quinn drivers from Harbor Freight, a Lindstrom (the original manufacturer of the Klein above), and a couple of Wiha and Wera drivers.

As long as they are calibrated or within specification, I don't have a strong preference between them. The Quinn drivers are nice because if you drop one from a height, they're not too expensive to replace.

Go to Cabela's and pickup a torque screwdriver in the firearms area. I've got a few Wheeler ones around for the last couple years and they've been pretty robust. Way cheaper than anything dedicated

Forgot to mention that.

These are really good!

Does anyone doing electrical just at their own house actually send out their torque screwdrivers for testing/calibration every year?

I guess it is still cheaper than hiring an electrician.

I use to test mine at work. Now retired I have enough equipment around to check against. If it reads way out from several device's, the debate begins. Replace or calibrate. It can go either way on cost or convenience.
