I have 3 older Craftsman DigiTork Torque wrenches.

I would like to get them Calibrated and serviced.

I like the little numbers in the windows.

Where can you get this done reasonably?

The cost to send it in for calibrations is almost the same price as buying a new one. (click type)

I haven't found any new ones I like.

Like I said above, these have the number window.

I would like to get them serviced.

Google should have listings for that service..

Check with a regular tool store that deals in automotive or industrial tools..

There's lots of them out there but they don't list their prices and I was hoping someone had a reference for someone good and reasonably priced.

I would suggest buying a digital torque adapter so you can check them yourself to see if they even need to be calibrated.

I bought one and I've used it to check a good number of torque wrenches. What I've found is even my 15-year-old Craftsman was still pretty darn close.

It's not. I stumbled onto it by accident. Then I used a beam style to check results. Then checked again with a digital torque adapter.

A beam is a great way to sanity check an instrument (with say 7-10%).

The snap on truck should have a tester if not a calibrator, if it tests OK they don't send it out for calibration (new cert) typically. A proper calibration gets you to the rated standard, at 4%, some being 2-6% depending on model.

Point overall is sanity check very useful to flag an obviously broken instrument ASAP (if budget is an issue). Its no un-common to destroy a fitting with a broken torque wrench--the combination of blind faith and the oversized lever arm will do that to you.

double check your gear occasionally!

I bought an Craftsman electronic torque wrench at a sale. Relatively useless as a torque wrench but pretty handy to test torque wrenches. I clamp it in the vise and set the torque wrench to a setting and then test it against the electronic one. I have found you need to pull slowly so they when the clicker gives you can read the electronic one. I normally test every wrench at 3 different settings. Not perfect but it gets you close.

I have found Snap on wrenches normally test best. The older Cmans are often quite close.

Here is a link to a pic of what I have. it is second row, all the way to the left.

I sent my Snap-On wrenches to Angle Repair (WV)... $50 each including the shipping there and back. Turnaround was 1.5 weeks (around Easter) and they clean/disassemble/inspect/calibrate the wrench. Heard nothing but good things about their service and I agree.

Locally it would have been $100 ea and I can't speak to the quality. In my dad's business, we checked on the SO guy's truck (comparator) and it always was good.

Upon thinking on it further after the first time calibrating it if you marked all your condition, weight, and distance it would be very easy to check it regularly in a couple mins. Especially if you had one or two weights you use regularly....
