I wrench at home. Had my BETA (made by Norbar I believe) wrenches recalibrated after 10 years...

No issues, all were in tolerance...

NEVER. I go by an engine rebuild buddy and get him to compare my "junk" to his recently calibrated jewelry. If I'm withing ten lbs....all good.
The key to torque is consistency from bolt to bolt. A couple ft lbs is nonsense

I was told that beam torque wrenches stay true, and that you could check your clicker by checking against one.

On one of our stranders, we had compression flange couplings for the drive shaft. In order for them to slip when we had a crash, we had to adhere to the torque specs religiously. If they didn't slip, we had much more work.

Been covered here several times already, but the digital torque units at Harbor Freight for $29 are more accurate than torque wrenches. They are useful for checking calibration, but they work so well, one could use the digital unit and a breaker bar; no torque wrench necessary.
