Thinking of getting a Precision Instruments clicker type with a range of 40-200 (or possibly 30-200) inch-pounds. Which drive size is more common for this range, 1/4 or 3/8?

Most inch pound wrenches I've seen are 3/8 drive and with a 30/40 to 250 range, not really sure why. 1/4 may be handier.

Its good to have a few sizes of torque wrenches that cover different ranges as there accuracy is best not being at the extremes of there range either low or high. A 1/4" & 1/2" is a good starting point a 3/8 if one is all you can afford at first. What torque specs your working with will dictate what size is best to get first. You can be well covered with some of the cheaper models it all depends on what sort of work your asking of the tool.
