What do you guys prefer?

Is it still necessary to keep both a split beam and techangle? Maybe I haven't been paying attention but it seems to me techs are just using techangles these days, its been a while since I've saw a tech bust out split beam. Are the techangles holding up as far as calibration just as good as a good ole split beam?

Working at 2 service dealerships I only saw techangles, working at manufacturing you only see mechanical ones.

Obviously you can't throw around a digital one, the pre adjusted ones at work get thrown around constantly, it kind of bothers me how much these people will chuck a torque wrench, but they stay in calibration as there checked for accuracy periodically every day.

I don’t use mine every day or even every week so I stick with mechanical. If I was an engine builder or transmission builder at work I’d definitely have the electronic ones.

For angle I just mark on the head my starting corner and the finish point on the piece and my sockets a paint line on a corner. Most of the time for us a TTY means it’s going to be above the electronic wrench’s range anyway.
