In the April issue of CAR CRAFT magazine they did a test using 1/2" SNAP-ON, Craftsman, and Harbor Freight manual clicker wrenches, along with the Harbor Freight digital torque adapter. Surprisingly, both Harbor Freight models did quite well, with the digital adapter having an average error of 0.20 lb-ft over five tests at 70 lb. The error on the manual wrench over the same test was 0.30 ft-lb.
The most important thing I took form the article was to return the preload on the torque wrench to its lowest setting, otherwise this can decrease the accuracy of your wrench over time. I have not been very good about doing this.
