Torque Wrench turning scale

Some Snap-On torque wrenches have stopper at the handle, but some are not.

my question is, when you are done using wrench and setting it back to the lowest setting, sometimes you pass the number little bit, half turn or 1/4 turn below the lowest unmber, is this a bad to the wrench? long as i dont go all the way, its fine right?

No, you should not go below the lowest mark. If you still have your manual it should tell you what percentage to set it at from full scale when not in use.

oh sorry, maybe my story isnt clear enough. i know i should set to lowest number when not using, but what iam asking is, when you are turning it back the the lowest number, sometime you go pass below the number half turn or more and bring it back up to the lowest number again, is this safe?? hope this clear things up.

Probably doesn't hurt it a bit. The reason for the caution is some torque wrenches, certain older Proto models for example, caution about this because the internals will unseat when the spring tension is completely released and will not go back together properly unless the tool is disassembled and reassembled properly. I was told this by our company torque wrench repairman/calibrator person.

An extra half turn looking for the bottom mark probably won't hurt anything.

Happened many a time on my Craftsman TQ wrenches. I just turn them back up to their lowest setting and all is well.

oh, how about little more than half turn, i mean long as i dont turn all the way down, should be good right?

i....i....was curious and i turn about 3-4 turns below lowest number, but handle didnt come off or anything, but just made me worry.

however, my 3/8 torque wrench have stopper. so it would not turn below the number.
