I need to get a torque wrench and was wondering which would be a good one for my use and also accurate. It would not be used making a living but will be used quite a bit.
It really depends on what you'll be using it for. Tire changes, engine work, etc? The size of fasteners that you'll be torquing will determine what size torque wrench you'll want to get. I've been really happy with my CDI (Owned by Snap-on) torque wrench. I think it was around $130. The newer ones that Home Depot has look nice also, and I think 1/2" and 3/8" are made in the USA.
This has been covered a ton. I like PI spilt beams. A lot of guys like gearwrench digital wrenches. A fair number of guys say hf are very accurate for $10. Personally I use SO techangles.
Sorry, I didn't think about mentioning the size. A 3/8 drive should be plenty for what I need. It will be used mainly for motorcycle repairs (minor) and some use on cars.
My preference has always been snap-on. I have quite a few plus both techangles. Very nice. Another bonus is snap-on will still do calibrations on their torque wrenchs even if they are old. Mac and matco wont.
