Ive had my 16x8 insulated garage door for about 9 years. Its fitted with torsion springs and we are using a Liftmaster opener.

What do you guys suggest to use to maintain the springs and is there anything that needs to be taken care of on the opener?

Just seeing what you guys suggest.

Thanks:beer:

My annual maintenance consists of oiling all the hinges, rollers and the the torsion spring. Using an oil can I pump a line of oil along the top of the spring so it seeps into the the space between them. I use a bar/chain oil or way oil on the spring as they have tacifiers that keep the lube in place and not dripping off.

Garage door lubricant on the spring, rotating bits of the bar, and hinges. 3-in-1 and Blaster both make some. It's basically silicone spray with Teflon. I don't have a chain due to the jackshaft setup.
Don't lube inside the tracks or the outside surface of the rollers as it will just encourage gunk accumulation.

I do much the same as 'boatshoes' following directions from my door installer/repair guy. This was AFTER I failed to lubricate the spring for several years and it broke.

Garage door springs have a life expectancy that is measured in cycles, opening and closing, not years. Obviously the more often you cycle the springs, the shorter the time between failure will be.

Garage doors used to be opened and closed twice a day, going to work and coming home; with the proliferation of multi car families and remotely operated garage doors some garage doors see more use than the front doors of houses.
