Torx L Keys Recommendation

After my thread about hex keys, I’m now on the hunt for torx l keys.

I already have T handles, screwdrivers and sockets.

Everything I look at seems to be really short L Keys.

I was going to get the PB Swiss set, but they seem tiny, though the long set they have only goes up to T25.

Should I just go for the Bondhus long set?

What is the reason most sets are short versions.

Any other suggestions for longer sets?

I needed a T-9 (I think the screws were tamperproof) to repair my M12 ratchet.
I found a used (new) tamperproof Titan set on Amazon warehouse.
They have been pretty solid, but I did mangle one of the smallest keys working on a loctited pocket knife screw.

I also picked up a Powerbuilt set fairly recently and cosmetically are like jewelry. Not sure on fitment, as I havent really put them through the paces yet.

You’re right about PB Swiss. I generally love their tools, but Torx key’s are not something they do well, at least not for general engineering.

Wiha are good. I got a set on a deal locally and found myself using them a lot. Mine are plain, these are ball ended - rare in Torx.

My all time favourites are probably Wera. They offer a huge variation - short and long, plain or colour coded, tool steel or stainless, and also offer a sort of “ball Torx”!

Here are just a couple of styles.

Wiha, Bondus and Eklind are the one's I'd recommend if budget is of little concern.

I don’t have PB but I do have a Bondhus set and strength-wise would recommend it, but they are super short.

I’m not looking a set that are super long, something around 8 inches for the T40 would be fine, just not tiny like the PB.

I will take a look at the Wiha as suggested.

Does anyone know why torx keys are usually short?

Just branded as Torx and made in Germany, but they're made by Hafu. Really nice, good quality and finish.

Can't comment on the Weras, but their other L-keys are nice. I like that Hafu set, i have a matching short set too. With either Wera or those Hafus, you won't be disappointed.

Ok, so, I have placed my order…

I think I went overboard, but I just couldn’t decide.. they will all be used at some stage regardless.

I ordered the Wera Blacklaser set T9-T40 in long with the holding function, I didn’t want the coloured sleeves, then the PB short set T6-T45, as I was waiting to place my order for the PB hex keys anyway. Both PB sets are in chrome, not the coloured sets, I just don’t like the look of them as much, plus chromes where cheaper.

I will post some pics once they arrive.
