I am aware of the ones Snap-on lists, (GM transmission bell housing bolts and Ford seat belt anchors) but what are the other applications in automotive & computers? I am wondering if I am using Torx in TX (plus) without knowing it. Also wondering if I can justify another set of bit sockets 211EFTXTPY :)

you might break your regular torx, as torx plus have greater torque rating. And the torx will be sloppily on the torx plus fastener, and may damage the fastener or bit.

Some of the Subaru camshat cap bolts are Torx Plus. If I remember they are TP35. I didnt know until I stripped one out using a regular torx. Havent had a problem since using the Torx Plus.

Some Borg warner/Magna powertrain transfer case half bolts on late model GM trucks are 30 or 40 torx plus I forget which. They are sneakin' em in slowly, better go ahead and get a set.

I can't see what the advantage is. You have squared off points instead of round points; so what?

if you look the square off points are thicker and not as high. This allow the torx plus to accept higher torque levels with less chance of rounding. They have been in the EU since the patten on torx expired. They came up with torx plus for an increase torx fastener.

Specific Example:

G20 (3 Series): The rear wheel bearing on the G20 (and possibly other BMW models) uses a TP60 Torx Plus fastener.

BMW X5 (F15/F16): Some of the undercarriage components, like suspension arms, may also use Torx Plus fasteners in the TP40 to TP50 range.
