I searched the heck out of Amazon for torx sockets didn't see really anyone not sheared off from reading the reviews, lisle, Tekton, neiko, gray pneumatic, sunex, etc
I checked everything out but decided maybe I don't care it is impact or chrome.

Finally decided to see what husky makes and come across this seems like pretty good value

I thought maybe this is as good as any other (and good price)? But are these what they include in the mechanic kits also?

The Philips and other bits are useful as well. I used to have some similar sockets in 1/4 from a mechanic tools in a kit and they come in useful on a ratchet in tight spaces.

i came to conclusion that any torx can break and I will just get snap on gold ones should the need arise for a specific size.

I might go grab the HF 1/2 drive torx set too to supplement

Snap-On gold is the best available according to many people on this forum. I've also read that VIM makes a good set. The Husky set is most likely not the "best of the worst," so you may want to consider an alternative brand, although Husky will be relatively easy to warranty. I have some experience with the SK bit sockets and they held up well for me in a DIY garage environment.

I wish vim could offer just the torx on a smaller set..

Not sure what to do with those other external torx sockets, what are they used on?

Ford uses some too. Seat mounts come to mind.

Last year Vim had a decent holiday sale on their site. I have the long set on my list. I like the ball/std option in their sets.

Good luck.

I have a Gearwrench master Torx set that I have been pleased with and also have triple square and hex bit sockets from VIM. Other than one hex socket that was "crooked" in the chrome base out of the package I haven't had any issues with them. I called VIM and they sent a replacement right away. VIM is a quality option for a pretty reasonable price.

I have Snap On gold HD ones. I love them for the fact that I have yet to shear one off. Twist them yes, but shear no which means I can typically finish a job.

I have CMan USA, and Lisle one and two piece. I got the two piece from CQ Corporate directly in Raleigh (I knew people there) and my contact there said, "These are better, I'm sending these to you".

If you don't care about COO much, what about the $30 set from Sears? If I could find a US version of that, I'd buy it, looks very complete.

I used my Snap On T40 (GOLD GOLD GOLD!!! LOL) bit for the first time last night. Sheared off at low torque like it was made of powder. It's OK though, the $18 Toptul torx set took care of the fastener.

We need to bribe someone to do a torx bit-socket test.
All is needed is digital torque adaptor with max torque reading, e-socket mounted in a vise for the bit and several bits of various brands.

What say you?

Play the ShopYourWay Sweeps Game and Get up to $20 to use on this $30 set making this essentially a $10 set with Lifetime Warranty from Craftsman.

I like vim. With torx bits however I lean towards quanity over quality. I have gold snappys, matco, silver eagle matco, stanley, Mac (otc), lisle, Vermont American that I can think of in complete sets. I've broke them all. If I break a t-40, there's Probly 6 more in my box. I keep several t-50 and 55 for Ford bed bolts. Have had to cut heads off because everyone ran out of bits before.

I have the Lisle set of normal and external Torx sockets and a set of OTC Torx plus sockets ... I don't use them much but they all appear to be good quality tools.

I have this set. Junk. I can't stand to use it. Literally every bit except for 2 I've used has busted the first time I used them. That was even a U.S. made set. The China set is worse. Everything has been replaced with Snap On and SK. My dad has the same set as well. He hates it too. Not to mention if you break a bit Sears wants to you take the entire set in and swap it out.

I haven't broken any but these are junk quality. But once, cry once. Used Snap-On is what Id recommand. Or Gearwrench even isnt too bad for the price!

I have the Cornwell master torx set which I believe is made by VIM. Love it. Hasn't failed me yet. Some have a little twist to them, but other than that, they are fine.

I also have the VIM stubby torx and hex sets. Those are worth their weight in gold

I have the matco master set with regular and tamper proof. Was like 104 on sale. I had the lisle kit from sears... but I broke those all the time. Also can't warranty those at sears. People say vim is really good

Lisle, Gearwrench, or VIM / Corwell it is. I use the VIM. Amazon has reasonable pricing
