Has anyone ever used an E-Torx socket larger than E16? Snap On and SK offer E18-E24 sockets. What applications did you use it on?

I've had to use a E20 on a Nissan cam bolt, I think. I have no idea what the E24 could be used for. I have it though, and it is huge.

Gm also uses the inverted Torx on seat bolts in 99 and newer fullsize trucks.Of all of the tools that I own and use daily,I would give all of my 6pt. stuff up and use pliers before I used a crappy set of Torx. You can destroy a fastener pretty easy with a junk torx bit, both standard(t) and inverted(e).

For the money these are good torx a lot of them made in the US.
http://www.autopart.com/tools/toolsmain/tool/T_9630.htm use the search 9500,9605,9630,9640,9680 General Motors uses some torx plus which are made somewhat different on newer vehicles. I got caught do a transmission filter on my 2000 full size pickup. I had to use a T35 not in a normal set to do the job. http://www.ntxtools.com/
search torx OTC and SK are good brands if you want to spend more.

So, I'm looking at buying a set of torx socket drivers. In searching for the various sets, I've found a lot of socket torx sets, ie: not the driver end, a female torx socket. For the life of me I can't remember seeing a torx head that I had to undo. Am I deprived? Where are these connectors used?

Piper

Alot of auto manufacturers use these male torx head bolts(that take E-torx,female sockets),V6 SAAB 3.0s are practically put together with these, many makers use them for head bolts, GM has used them for odds and ends and wheel cylinders, they pop up everywhere if you are an auto tech. not sure what other tech. jobs come across them. If you are a moderate user Sears has a "master"set, not quite complete, but adequate for 100 bucks, Hazet are the best I've used or WIHA.:bounce:

I bought a set from Cornwell.. and it was a very complete set with regular, tamper proof and the e-torx. Cost me about $100 on sale. I havent broken one yet, and I use them all the time with my impacts. But, do be careful since I've broken snap on torx sockets using impacts. But that cornwell set was nice and complete.. very good quality and well priced. I used to have lisle torx.. and they are so easy to break.

Also, 12 point sockets work instead of e-torx sockets.

You bought Pittsburgh Professionals with the Cornwell name, I have some, they are going to ebay.Strong and cheap, just like the ones I bought from Northern tool years ago.
