Torx / Torx Plus T55 drive size

It appears most of size T55 that are included in Torx and Torx Plus sets would come in 3/8" drive. From my experience, it seems like most situations where I need to use T55 would have been more beneficial if it was instead in 1/2" drive.

Is there a reason why most T55 comes in 3/8" drive, or do I really need to eat more wheat to break free those T55 fasteners which seems to always been tightened by some gorillas?

My snap on, and mac t55's(one chrome, one impact) are both 1/2 inch.

My Snap-On T55 is 3/8", you can get either 3/8" or 1/2" chrome from Snap-On.

Grey Pneumatic also gives you a choice in impact.

I got the atd set from napa, half inch, the t55 is a monster, but is awesome, it is an impact torx, but I have never used it with an impact.

I went with the t55 bit from my snap on guy and pop it in a socket, this way it is either 3/8 or 1/2" drive. Can use a ratcheting box end in real tight spots.

Almost any Torx sets out there would have T55 in 3/8 drive. But realistically, would you be able to comfortably crank loosen those gorilla-tightened T55 fasteners with that drive size? Some manufacturers, like Snap-on, does offer it in 1/2 drive which would have to be bought individually.

what does it matter, a decent adapter will take that strain, in impact or standard chrome.

my craftsman set only goes upto t50, I ordered the matching t55 and its a 1/2.

just the way the cookie crumbled.
