Yard guys often can't do anything, but if you can talk to the boss, many times money talks.

Talk to someone higher up. Tell him you have cash and want it. Probably won't take much to buy it. I'd do it fast before it's crushed.

Boss will either say yes or no, only rarely releasing the hounds.

Be sure its something you want before you wave the money. Two to four times the scrap price usually works, but anything less than a total of $20 may not get their attention.

Wait a minute NJHG, are you implying that there might be stolen merchandise moving through NJ scrapyards? What is this world coming to? :spit:

I always thought Jersey should be known as "The crime scene state", instead of the Garden State. Maybe have a chalk line body in the middle of the plate, instead of the Jersey outline.

Over on one of the farm websites I go to, a farmer had thieves come on the farm and climb a 90' silo to cut the cables off the silo unloader so they could steal them.

At my fine scrap yard, anything you see is yours for the weight. I scored 4 - 6" aluminum casters with phenolic wheels for what they weighed. Cost me $20 for all 4.

We got a big problem with sh!tbags stealing the copper out of AC units down here. They get $400 in copper, and you get a new AC unit for a few thousand.
