Hello! Just joined so said I would post. This is our very old garage in the West of Ireland as it currently stands. It had deteriorated over the years after it was closed and after a fire. It is a well known garage in the area, and has been there for

It used to be a Maxol Service station many years ago, and crash repair centre. I will upload some older photos of it in its former glory soon. The petrol pump island and large sign are now gone. As you can see in the photos, the roller doors and black bollards are a new addition. We have recently stripped out the interior and put brand new roofs onto both buildings.

The plan is to create a clean modern space inside, fit for both storing and working on cars, starting with the side with the double doors. Hoping to create a garage for classic cars. I really like the look of retro garages and service stations and would love to give it back its old feel, maybe take some ideas from the American Texaco stations. Lights, old good year signs, castrol oil signs, hanging baskets. Any ideas would be lovely!!

That garage has beautiful, classy lines! It would be great if, during your rehabilitation of the place, you could preserve those lines.

Thanks for the comments Found lots inside! Old parts, petrol pumps, tools, photographs, Lots! The pictures show it best. Here are some of the pictures of the inside renovations. It started quite bad..

The above is the main part of the garage the day we started. Its very dark. The next ones are during the cleaning.

The above is just to the right as you look in the main door.

Work then started on the new flat roofs, to both the left and right hand side of the main garage (big door in 1st pic in 1st post) The left hand side needed to be raised also.

We knocked the old toilet and an old office/store.

The Main roof was then re-sheeted, the back wall was also insulated and re-sheeted. The pictures show it better.

So that's more or less the main side, new roofs, a couple of walls knocked to square it off, new lights and plug sockets and a new roller door. The side garage (with the 2 doors) comes next!

So that's the inside at the moment. The building is now water proof, dry and warm. A massive improvement on the starting point.

That was the outside the day we started, broken windows, very old and well worn doors.

The garage was originally built in 1960.

We kept the oldest one, it would be nice to restore it and put it outside the gargae, just left of the big window. But the weather in Ireland wouldn't be the nicest to it, and we're fairly close to the sea so the salt air would only cause it to rust. It might be safer inside!!

The frontage looks more 1920's than 1960's! Is that a Lancia Beta (the white car)? Looks to be in typical Lancia condition i.e has big rust holes!
