We have some built in storage boxes in this house, downside they're reasonably heavy and would easily kill a kid if they fell, my question how do I calculate how strong of a strut to get for these, I was thinking of doing two since I don't think I want this thing to flex at all, not that it does right now. As an update, your guys ideas worked great, I figured out the weight of the top of the boxes and found struts that could handle it, the fishing scale really helped out on figuring out what weight I was dealing with without taking apart everything
