like most branded tools they came in a tool kit along time ago when cars came with tool kits, the last car I know of was Lexus but they started to have blank named wrenches I'm sure due to theft when they were labled Lexus in the early models.

That's so awesome! And here's why I am so ecstatic:

I am a super proud Toyota owner.
Now to decide if I should keep it in the toolbox or in a glass case :D

Those are from a set.

I think they came as 8-10mm, 10-12mm, and 14-17mm. At least those are the ones I have, and that will work on 95% of the bolts on older toyotas... (also a yota fan here)

I get contacted by toyota all the time telling me that they'll give me good money for my '04 'taco, and the privilege of paying them for a new one. I keep telling them to stuff it, I'm not giving up my truck unless they offer a straight swap.

I gave up a Ranger with a custom built suspension to get the Tacoma because the Ford couldn't handle the abuse I give it. I treat my 'taco like it's an F250 and it keeps taking it without crying.

My mechanic has offered to buy my yota P/U more than once.
I have a wrench or two like that in my bike tools box. If someone wants to complete a set, I'm not married to them.:lol_hitti

I have a pair of Toyota slip joint pliers that came in the tool kit. They look just like my Honda motorcycle tools except for the name. I don't own a Toyota, but I do have a Honda Magna.

Anything with the Toyota name or symbol on it gets my attention. I've owned about 60+ 4x4 Toyotas in the last 20+ of being a legal driver in PA. I currently drive a 2009 Tacoma 4x4 and am performing a frame off resto on a 1972 Toyota Landcruiser FJ40. Rust ALWAYS cripples a Toyota in my neck of the woods over mechanical failure. Very well built vehicles, and actually overbuilt (IMO) with regards to the older 4x4 lines.

Here's a link to the holy when talking tool kits for the FJ40. http://www.overlandexpo.com/overland-tech-travel/2012/6/22/the-holy-grail-of-factory-tool-kits.html They go for big bucks on fleabay.

Show that wrench proud. You did good son:beer:.

Cool - I had no idea they made Toyota tools. I thought they were pretty much irreparable within months and recycled within a year. Indeed the only thing I've ever seen Toyota-branded was the bin at the local metal recycler - LOL!!

My first Toyota truck went twenty yr. and 300,000 miles. At one point, they contacted me and asked me to write a little thing about all those miles and etc. for their website. I did, and then I would periodically receive an "invitation" to buy a new truck. They even went so far as to send me a brochure on their current truck offerings. I like their trucks, but that was cheesy.

I'd take a rotted out Cressida over that '74 318 Challen(ed)er you actually took the time and $$ to restore:eyecrazy:.

Many of us would never have envisaged these becoming collectable.

Slightly off topic, my son was just given a 98 corolla from his grandmother for his graduation/leaving for the army present. He leaves in September (M.P.) and I would like to get him started on a tool kit for his car. No hurry, because he wont get out of AIT till Feb. and we dont ever know if he will be stationed CONUS.

So after reading this thread, i thaught it would be kinda cool to find some of these Toyota branded tool for this kit. Do these often come up on ebay/flea markets? Would 10, 12, 14, and 17 do most of the maint. on his corolla? What else would you guys recomend adding to this tool kit?

Thank you for all the information I have already learned on this great site.

I searched last night but couldn't find any more Toyota tools :(

You guys bring up a good point , our Toyotas reach 200xxx miles and still drive like brand new cars, its funny how we invest so much into tools and have the most dependable car :bounce:

Means I have the most reliable vehicle to travel around town to hunt for tools :D

dave12b, I don't know where to get them, but my wife and I have three Toyotas. The sizes you listed would be used, but add an 8 mm and even a 6 mm. I don't use the 6 mm that often, but the 8 mm is needed.

Of course, you can find as many of the Toyota-badged wrenches as you can and then fill his kit out with any other wrenches.

SteveCh,

Thanks, will add the 6 and 8. After some thaught this afternoon, I decided to piece together a kit from my spare tools and some new stuff. This way he can get familar with some of the basic of the car under the tutelage of his grandfather (just turned 80) before he leaves. I will continue to check ebay though cause these tools are pretty cool.

I'd take a rotted out Cressida over that '74 318 Challen(ed)er you actually took the time and $$ to restore:eyecrazy:.

Why would someone restore a 1974 Dodge with a 318? They only had about 105 hp by then and ugly federally mandated bumpers.

Ouch!! You big meanies :( yer hurtin' my feelings! (ok, not really ). But seems I hurt yours - so sorry, I guess?? I should have put the "J/K" notation or a few ;) emoti's for you two.... ;) At least the "Challen(ed)er" part was funny  - hadn't heard that one! Truth be told, I like ALL cars and even with the 'lowly' 318 I doubled my $$$ on it - which you could do with some TOYO's too I guess. So don't take it (or me) too seriously, we ALL have our faves, mine happen to be many. Actually had a Landcruiser and my bro had a 4-Runner way back when. Also had a roommate that rebuilt his with metal from a fridge!! Can't say that for many!

So enjoy your chosen marquee - and don't take people so seriously - they may just be kidding.

I could never take anything someone said on the world wide web too seriously unless it was something I bought or sold. Don't do the "social networking" thing so if people are talking **** on me I have no idea. Out of sight, out of mind kind of thing.

Anyway, I was only poking back at you e-tek. I to have zero loyalty to any make or model. Not a big fan of Chrysler products which may have fueled my post, but it was still meant in fun. I actually owned a 1971 Challenger about ten years ago, but flipped it for a hefty profit to some real estate guru in NYC before the market took a ****.

Toyota use manufacturers in Japan - Vessel for screwdrivers and KTC or Top for wrenches.

I discussed them a bit in this thread on toyspeed: http://forums.toyspeed.org.nz/viewtopic.php?t=84601&highlight=vessel+screwdriver

I have a bunch of stuff, although there are a few odds and sods I was still looking for when I left NZ. Sidelined it all over there until we settled... somewhere - one of the reasons I've been so quiet on this board! Two chocks, complete spanners, bag and a pliers. Need an adjustable wrench and a / some screwdrivers.

Yup, you can buy a tool kit for the car that is better, but if you're a Toyota fanboy... ;) It will do in a pinch I'm sure...
