trace wire help

when i run my conduit for my electric, is there a certain wire for the trace wire or just any 16ga solid core wire suffice.

Ayuh,.... Plastic gas, 'n water lines need a tracer wire, to find it with a metal detector,....

The wires inside yer conduit will do what the tracer wire does, so no tracer wire is necessary,...

my bad, i'm also running gas. that is what i meant to type. head is spinning trying to get this wrapped up before the cold hits.

Trace wire for Natural Gas is generally yellow to follow same color conventions as the yellow plastic pipe for NG. Not sure if required gauge but stranded likely fine, rather than solid core. There are rolls of copper wire with yellow jacket at Lowes.

Backfill the trench with some dirt then lay the trace wire ; you'll wrap around riser on both ends so wire can't fall back in trench.

As noted above, another precaution is put in yellow caution tape after some more backfill in trench.
