PIcked up a new 200DX a month or so ago.
After weeks of burning holes in aluminum, using lots of Ar, and making lots of scrap I finally started a project.

I'm making some aluminum brake duct plenums for my CMC car. I'm using adapters made by a fellow race which allows use of C5/C6 SKF racing hubs instead of the weak-nut original camaro stuff.

As such, I need to make new plenums to cool the brakes. I'm still using the 12" setup but may change to 13" later and build yet another batch.

picture order:
1- is the adaptor w/ the aluminum cut to fit.
2- mockup to then place the rotor and figure out what the rotor ID is for best fit
3- relief cuts to trim the excess on the band saw
4-I cut a thin strip from some more sheet, then just happened to use the square edge of the rotor 'hat' to bend it quasi circular
5-in process of welding
6- current state. I it needs air though, so tubes/ducts still aren't on.

I still need to put 3" tubes to actually run the air from the ducts up front!
will update later. tubes should be at my door step to day, so maybe more fab later this week.

late update.
finished them, scrapped the first design, made two more partial mock-ups then finished w/ these...
never did use them though. I haven't driven the car since. back problems followed by pursing a new home build have shoved the race car onto the back burner

Nice work!

Any details on the hub adapter piece? I have a '96 Z28 that needs new brakes. Since I'm putting new on I'd like to put bigger/better on...

Thanks!

The guy that designed these runs an AI car in the same region as myself. a few AI cars (bigger rubber, bigger brakes, more speed) run these w/o issue.
you can even adapt your ABS, which I don't have on a CMC car.

I have '98+ spindles & rotors, and C6 vette calipers on my car. if you want to upgrade your '96 to later brakes you'll need the later spindles. Or keep your spindles and go to 'track brackets', Kore sells something along those lines.
