I have a queston for you tractor owners out there. I've been looking for about a year and half. I'm going to look at a tractor today and was wondering if yall think this is a pretty good deal for the price?
I've looked up pricing on new and used tractors with a front end loader in my area and they seem to be going for about the price of this tractor with out the other attachments.
I've talked to the owner of the tractor and she said it was her fathers and just used to mow his land and some other odds and ends.
Thanks for yalls input.

I'd say it comes with a nice selection of attachments, but the shredder must be a bush hog mower I'd guess ? Depending how much the trailer needs, it could be worth 2 grand of the asking price.

Apparently, "she" doesn't need it and is selling it. I'd go look at it, point out what needs work, the scraper that you "really don't need" and what kind of shape the trailer is in. Then I'd offer 12 grand cash. . . . . just have her follow you to the bank.

I new setup (New Holland I think) around here like that - box blade, shredder, trailer - runs about $24K. I'd agree with above - start at 12K cash and see where it goes.

Seems pretty good low hours, stored inside, an 18' trailer to haul it "needs works" find out what that means. Depending on the brand and size box blades can run 700-1000, auger not sure?

I have a 2004 TC29 boomer and I love it, I also have a new cub cadet ex3200 and the New Holland is ten times the tractor, My New Holland has the super steer option and I love that, A very solid smooth tractor. New Holland makes a couple of series of tractors and I don't think you will touch a new Boomer with all those attachment for $24K. 12K would be a good buy

I paid $10K for my Cub CUT with a belly mower and a bucket and it's a '97 model 2wd. I bought an auger (3 point post hole digger) and paid a tick over $600 with tax. So that's not too bad of price for a NH with all attachments and trailer. I'd start at $12K, but don't feel bad if you end up paying 15K. It's worth it.

I think what is that is a good deal even if you cant get it for less than the asking price. An auger with the drive was $520 at TSC this spring. They sell the auger seperate from the attacment.

Last spring I bought a 2003 tc24 showing 148 hours with a new brush hog from the New Holland dealer and it cost 13,200 I thought that was a smoking deal.

The tractor now has 287 hours and its done a lot more than I expected it would be able to.

I think you would be happy with that setup even if you have to pay 15k. 12k is better it doesn't look worn out at all. It's always interesting to see someone selling a whole package like that. I know how much they have in those implements and they do too. However if you will only use an auger once or twice in your lifetime do you really want to be stepping over it from now until the end of time?

Certainly if they are throwing all of this in then it is a good buy. But don't let that cloud your judgement. Box blades are expensive but after you get your place landscaped you usually just end up sitting on it. My friends come and borrow stuff and most of the time I hope they just keep stuff until I need it again.

There are few implements I would pay top dollar (used) for because they are a dime a dozen. I paid $250 for a used rhino rotary cutter and spent $150 to put new blades on it because the previous owner welded the original blades back together. Sheesh! It's the best money spent for a heavy rotary cutter I use once a year.

I did go pay new prices for a pto snowblower. They don't come up very often and most of the time people are crazy and want new prices for used stuff. If I ever resent spending money on new I remember the six foot snow drifts I had to cut through to get out of our driveway. Never regret that purchase.

Long and short of it. I think it looks like a good deal. The trailer is worth the money because they bring stupid money on the used market. It may just need some brake/light work and possibly a new floor. You would get your money back on that. I wouldn't pay more than 12k but I think you're getting one hell of a tractor either way.

Looks like a clean tractor. If you buy it you may want to get it serviced. I bet it's never been.

I regularly see similar tractors with only a bucket sell for 13K-16k. I would start with a lower price, but if it is as advertised I would be willing to pay asking price if that is what it takes.

Thanks for everyones input. The trailer for what she told me will need new wood, but everything else about the trailer was in good condition. She said if i buy the tractor I can have the trailer she wants to get rid of it. So if I wind up buying it I would have to borrow a trailer or rent one.
The tractor will need a new battery. She told me she had to jump it awhile back. I agree with yall that it is a good deal after reading everyones post. 15k is a little more than I wanted to spend. Funny thing is I was thinking along the same line as yall and offering her 12k. I have my father-in-law coming with me and he knows more about tractors than I do so I'll feel more comfortable about looking and negotiating.

It is probably a decent buy. Let say this....I have an older Kubota, a1979 that I have had for 30 years and I would be lost without it. When I first bought it....city boy here....I thought what will I ever use this thing for? That tractor will be worth more than 4 men around your home. You'll love it.

That looks like a good deal to me. I would buy it, with all the things that come with it, it would deffinantly be worth the money.

Like others I think $12k is about right, I have a 2005 CaseIH DX33 pretty much the same tractor but red and really like the tractor, bought mine from the local dealer a couple years old at the time not much more than the $15k number.

She said OBO. Go there with cash, no screwing around. $12,000 . it appears the bucket doesn't even have a grab hook or hooks on it. That's pretty close to mint condition. That sounds like all easy hours too. It wasn't beat either.

Yes, if you walked in there fanning 120 $100 bills that would have a positive affect the the deal. She knowing that she can get this behind her and off the 'to do 'list. Take the truck with the trailer hitch and tell her you can make it disappear in 15 minutes.

In my area 12k-13k would be the going price. If it was a similar Kubota set-up it would bring an easy 15k around here. Like one of the other posters said use the not needed implements as bargaining chip. JMHO.

I have a JD 4310 which is about the same size as that. I bought it new in 2002 and it now has about 850 hours on it and I have never mowed with it.

That sounds like a great deal, even at the asking price. A tractor that size with a loader is a very handy thing to have. You will be surprised how much use you will get out of it.

I once knew a guy that bought and sold tractors and he always had his niece place the ad for an appearance of vulnerability . Look closely at the paint on the pedals for touch ups that prove more use than the hour meter .

Does the woman come with it? If so, what would be your maintenance cost to keep her in good shape and ready to work at moments notice?

The loader will save your bacon time and again and you won't ever regret getting it. $12,000 is a good counter offer and the attachments are icing. Even if it wasn't the best deal to be found, it's certainly a fair price. The value is based on your needs now and later.

Went by their this afternoon around 5pm. and looked at it the tractor was dirty from the last time it was used (it looked like it hadn't been used in awhile) but it looks great and all the attachments look barely used. Only thing was that the battery was completely dead so we
were unable to start the tractor:sad:.

we both agreed that we needed to have the tractor running before the deal will be final. So I will be going out their with a new battery tomorrow to start it up and if everything looks good we will finalize the deal. The trailer is completly shot as far as the wood and tires but the frame is great condition. So I'm going to have to get me some used tires on it and pull it home. My uncle is going to use his trailer to pull the tractor to my house.

The only thing was it looked like it had a power steering fluid leak due to the reservoir being pretty low and good size oil spot on the floor. It looks like is coming from the I think they call it the power assist cylinder/actuator going to the front wheel. Won't know for sure until we get it running and cleaned up to actually see. No other leak were seen by me or my father in law.

Does anyone know what kind of powersteering fluid it uses? Can use automotive powersteering fluid? I have a New Holland dealer near my house I guess I'm gonna go by their tomorrow and get some fluids just in case.
Wish me luck

I am assuming that you are getting the tractor then by lining up your uncle and getting fluids? Did you, or are you getting it for $12k or the original $15k?

Hope you get it ! See if she any manuals for the tractor and implements too.
I would use New Holland fluids and filters. I doubt if it is much more than after market. Get oil and filters to. I buy my deere fluids in 5 gallon buckets.
Cheaper but costly upfront. i like it when someone gets a deal !

Not that many hours and it is spotting the floor? Battery dead too? Unless you get just a screaming deal, I'd walk away. You can get some pretty good deals on the Kubotas these days. Bought my BX25 last year pretty cheaply with belly mower, back hoe, and bucket with no interest from Kubota credit for not much more than the 12 you are quoting. Good luck!

I think the power steering leak may be right, we had one at work that had a small power steering leak, not a big deal to fix. They are pretty bullet proof little tractors, we had like 4k hours on the one at work when I left that company. Pretty much just normal maintenance. My boss was hard on stuff and only managed to break a few little thinks.

Its a 2003, not really a surprise the battery is shot, they are only good for about 8 years.

Power steering is part of the hydraulic system, so it would be NH-approved tractor hydraulic fluid. Likely added at the rear of the tractor near the hitch.

I have a TC29D, same tractor but 4 fewer horsepower. It's incredibly handy, from moving snow to maintaining our driveway (1/4 mile long) to brush cutting. With a cheap boom pole, it's very easy to move some pretty heavy items. The front end loader is good for about 900 lbs., and about 1,500 lbs. at the lift arms for the 3-pt hitch. If you get it for $12k with a trailer and those attachments, drive away fast before she changes her mind. A minor leak like that wouldn't faze me.

Once you get it, join tractorbynet.com. It's full of the same sorts you find here, but focused on what they call CUTs (Compact Utility Tractors). Lots of good info there.

Good luck!

The power steering is a separate system on these tractors. The fill for the steering is under the hood a little left of center. If you look on the right side of the tractor you will see there are two pumps, one is for steering(front) and one for running tractor hyd(rear, runs loader)

If you have been looking for a year, then you already have a good idea what your looking at, and how the price compares for your area. The following links may help:

For specific machine specs: http://www.tractordata.com/farm-tractors/003/0/9/3098-new-holland-tc33.html

For area sale prices try this: http://www.tractorhouse.com/list/list.aspx?bcatid=464&Mdltxt=tc33&mdlx=contains&FullText=tc33&ETID=1

Lots of good info here: http://www.tractorbynet.com/forums/new-holland-buying-pricing/

Friend has this tractor and it is a nice GP 33hp tractor. Looks like 17K was new sale price, so with the included attachments, I think anything up to the full asking would be a decent deal. Area makes BIG difference.
Let us know how you come out, and post pics. :p
