The rubber/vinal seat cover on my tractor seat was torn bad, last year there was a wasp nest in it, I removed the cover repaired it with vinal tape. I reinstalled the cover, what can I use to "glue" it to the metal seat?

Is there such a thing as good tape for seats? I have some rough cub cadets that I wouldn't mind patching up. They aren't worth putting a new seat on.In my experience with patching seats with vinyl tape, the glue from the tape softens up in the heat and sticks to your pants. I would get a small piece of vinyl upholstery material and cut it to fit and then attach it and some foam rubber to the metal part of the seat from underneath with those sheet metal screws with built in washers.
I might consider hide glue.I was cutting grass in the barn yard and stopped for lunch. One of the sumbitch horses came up and torn the seat all to hell, including the molded foam. I used a spray can of adhesive and tried my best to piece the foams pieces back in place then bought one of the slip on covers.
