Good possibilty of that me thinks. Blain's Farm and Fleet just added WIX filters(although a smaller selection for now).

They've had Wix for some time...although they also have pretty good selections of Bosch/Fram/Purolater/AC Delco/Mopar/Motorcraft, lol.

I would guess TSC would go cheaper not higher end, given the rest of their stores.

Me too, but was over at Bob is the Oil Guy and based on what I remember there have been issue with purolator filters. :willy_nil

Now the go to filter seems to be Fram :scared:

Just amazing how when manufacturers finally get it right, something somewhere screws it up.
I got a fram filter for a guys car l was working on for 0.50 cents.
was sort 0f surprised they had it, and so cheap too,
but I guess not a lot of mazda/ford probe's 2.5 motor running around still.

Ironically I went out today for several things, one of which was bulbs for my outdoor motion lights. I was gonna hit HD and swung by TSC on my way. I wasn't looking for light bulbs at TSC but in the clearance section they put tons of these PAR38 halogens which is exactly what I needed. $3.99 for a 2-pack

I know halogen is like "oh my gaw so yesterday" but works for me. Had I gone to HD I would have shopped LEDs. Since these are just motion lights the extra energy consumption of a halogen is likely 2 cents per year LOL

I got the same ones a week or two ago and they had a big display right at the checkout by the door as you went in. Decent enough lumen rating too.

Like you say can't really beat that price.

I did get some LED floods at my summer mkt from another vendor ($2.00 each I think they were for me) but the lumen rating was a bit lower 950 I think was at it was so that's why I got the TSC ones instead.

That flea mkt seller had all types of led bulbs so picked up a few each of single and some dual 4ft fixtures for my garage but I need to install them still. The duals are really bright and much more light than old 40 w fluorescents but are almost too harsh a light. I guess I have to get used to them. Also got a bunch of standard style screw base bulbs in various wattage from 60-100 The 75w versions of those I really like.

I have a TSC about a half mile from my house and the Fram filters there are laughably cheap - starting at about $0.49.

None of them fit any of my toys, but if any of you know of a specific size TSC carries, I'm happy to pick them up for you. I'm there about 5 times a week as it is. It's right between the liquor store and a great Mexican restaurant, so it really couldn't be more convenient.

At all three stores near me the Tough Gards are long gone but the orange cans of death just aren't moving. Even at .49 they can't get rid of those things.

Seems I remember seeing several of the smaller sizes were Tough Guards.

All of the larger ones were orange. And yes, they've been yellow tagged for awhile.

None of these at my store so can't speak to quality.

Also, they had signage for 15 or 20% off lowest marked price on jacks. There was no exclusion for clearance prices, so if anyone could still find one of those Big Red jacks marked at $34.99.....3f76be635bb79f622ff435d162b139e6.jpg

Fram filters are not any good. They have a bad history of wrecking engines.
The innards come apart.

Any references or evidence to support that statement? Appears to be "urban legend" no one seems to have any examples of this happening.

Ever since a posted an unscientific and flawed "analysis" of filters this myth has propagated.

I've seen numerous race engines ruined while using Fram filters. In my case, not a "urban legend". I've seen the results in many oil pans and cut open filters. This was enough for me to swear off them for life.

this, followed by Fram issuing a bulletin to their sales dept about how they had removed the neoprene from their filters in response while implying it 'their responsibility.

It would be interesting to read the Fram response, since this TSB does not reference Fram. I was assuming gasoline engines, not really familiar with diesels.

Curious what your results were?

Were these conventional "street" gasoline engines or racing engines using racing fuel? Seems like that might be a difference.

My research has been limited to gasoline engines in production cars and trucks. If anyone has any evidence of issues with Fram filters in that application, please share it.

Anybody else eyeballing the Dewalt socket accessory kits they had in the Christmas bins? They didn't seem to sell very well so I'm hoping they clear them out soon.

It only takes one muti thousand dollar engine to turn many customers off forever.

That assumes the oil filter was the cause of the failure, and that information is not in evidence.

FWIW, I have used the lowest price Fram filters for decades, on all our vehicles, with no issues or problems. We typically drive our gasoline vehicles 300K miles, so while the evidence is anecdotal the many examples add some reliability.

It appears the failures attributed to Fram filters were caused by other issues, such as extending change intervals with synthetics, etc. Perhaps one day someone will provide evidence showing a Fram filter caused a failure, it just hasn't happened yet.

Fun fact - you are likely buying Fram filters as a different brand, most of the filters are made by the same few companies. Unless you are buying certain OEM filters, they are likely the Fram with a different brand and paint color.

Anyway, let's get back to the TSC deals. $0.49 Fram filters is a GREAT bargain!

Well, There is no other source of neoprene in a 12 valve, and its really rare for an auto manufacturer to send out warnings like that....

look at the test and construction results

I did, actually. The concern I have with that is interpretation. For example, they note the filter media is "brittle", but no exploration of whether brittle filter media is an issue or not. Same with "media tearing", it may or may not be a detriment, that is really the issue.

The historical complaint against Fram, based on that initial unscientific investigation, is that the end caps are "cardboard". Nothing actually wrong with that, it's fine, but the "investigator" said that was "bad" and that misinformed comment took on a life of it's own.

Can't really speak to the warning, other than to note such warnings are most often issued for economic and legal reasons rather than technical issues.

I would have to dig into the issue to find the objective facts for you on the issues with the diesel engines, unfortunately I'm not an expert on that engine and issue. I'm not sure it would be worth the time and effort, since you seem comfortable with your conclusion and work around. Sorry.

Their bar & chain lube is still 2 for $12 but rings up $6 individually.

This 1.5T jack is $54.99 which is better than $59.99 w coupon at HF

I went to my TSC today for something and usually there is just a small corner in the back isle for clearance stuff... Today they had the whole back isle with clearance!!! Nothing I needed and I really used some self restraint from buying a few things. But I was really surprised by just how much there was, never seen that much marked down at one time.

These 16" F-Clamps were down to $9.99 yesterday at my TSC and I cleaned them out. I can't imagine that this is normal price.

Not as heavy as some of my Strong Hand or Bessy, but I don't always need 4,800lb F-clamps.

These are a screaming deal! https://www.tractorsupply.com/tsc/product/barn-star-16-in-f-bar-clamp

Yep I've mentioned those numerous times here. A killer deal on "longer" F-clamps

They used to be 18" at $14.99 then about a year ago the 16" appeared instead.

edit: the biggest drawback is shallow throat depth

Looks like they're clearing out the Porter Cable cordless too, nothing left at my stores though. At least I didn't have to wonder what the weekly clearance markdowns were though lol.97545dca1094d403fd75caf844f99e3d.jpge0300083f1227d16126a9bd66b336738.jpg5e88e5dccb9dff75cfe321cd57178080.jpg6f7d581e3659d5d611e8a52320efaa2f.jpg367922b42b31fd8c1284179b279e12eb.jpga64cbe69615164cacfb38891b5615c3f.jpg973ef865507ea8e88e1f11aa25180738.jpg881bba5d627b04fada598b6c979226d8.jpgbb88bf7eb1aaa95c344541120a4ebdaf.jpg

My store has an extra 50% off clearance items right now. There are quite a few Plano pistol cases and range bags and tree-line ammo cans.

Been looking for the Hammered Silver and Black ammo 50 cal ammo cans and finally found one way on the top shelf and the cashier almost seemed surprised they had any left. $3.49
