Trade in tools?

Quick question for the more experienced:
Will tool trucks take trades or give credit for tools? I want a set of Snap-On wrenches, and I have a similar set in Craftsman, and I wanted to know if anyone else has ever traded something in for some credit towards a new product.

Doesn't have to be snap on...Cornwell, Mac, Matco, any of the truck brands.

My snap on guy will take most stuff as long as it is in very good condition. I have traded different things from time to time. Not every guy will take them and don't expect much for them. If there is an Indy guy near you he would take them and pay cash or give you a credit, but again you won't get a lot for them. I only have experience with snap on and the Indy guy near me.

Like any sane business man/woman.... if they can make a profit out of
your trade in's they will take them...

...And like any trade in, you will get more money for them if you sold
them privately.

Just decide if less hassle by trading is worth the money you would lose.

Something to think about... even if it's their own brand, you're going to get less than their cost for a new one, which is probably somewhere in the realm of half of list price. Another brand is going to get you even less, and an off-brand (such as Craftsman if you're in the tool truck business) less still. Then add in that they could be losing the potential sale of & profit from a set of their own, and the offer goes even lower.

Point being, the answer may be yes, but unless you just want a few bucks and no hassle, might as well sell them yourself.

Im going to look like a **** with this one, but here we go. And pertaines to Op.

I bought a ton of stuff off of tooltopia, snappy, and my indy guy, when switching out my stuff for better quality recently.
After a couple months, i was like "i have to much,"(2x's and 3x's of) so i asked my indy guy if he wanted tosee if anyone needed stuff. He offered to buy.
I had one of those 27 inch homak mini roll carts, for just aligns. And filled with everything needed. But i upgraded all my stuff.
Well my indy guy offered me $500, i said thanks scott but i have less in it than that. He said $450 and we're good, you've spent over 3k with me last year, we're good.
I think i made $100 off it, but i just put it in as truck credit twards my bill.
This is my experience, everyone else will differ.

But to op's full post, yes yur reps do take trade in's.

Shoot sometimes thats the best way to get a deal. My snap on guy just had a deal last week with something stupid like a min trade in value of 100 bucks on a ratchet towards a set of sockets with one of his ratchets. He was going around showing off a cman raised panel 1/4'' he gave a guy 100 bucks for that morning.

Every one I have ever dealt with does.
Some times they run specials based on that.

Just recently my Snap-On guy had a deal on punches. Give him three old punches ( regardless of condition ) and get a Snap-On punch kit for $85.00 regularly $45,986.25 or something like that.

I have traded in old Snapon stuff with my Snapon dealer and he's always been pretty generous. But one time I took in a pile of craftsman ratchets just to see if I could get anything and he said, "no thanks....nobody wants these". I also had a 1/2 SK ratchet that he offered me $5 for. In my case, unless I trade in truck brand stuff, I might as well keep it or give it to goodwill. A crusty old Snapon ratchet will get me a $35 trade in but a pile of shiny Craftsman stuff won't get me squat.
