Staple of residential construction in the 70s and even into the 80s
Died in the 80s because they came out with the power miter box or chop saw

Not worth $100 to me. Those lives a hard life

Wow, that is one heck of a RAS. Neat setup, but I think they have really been killed off by a.)Safety regs. b.) Cost and features of a good CMS or SCMS.

Those date back to before engineered trusses. When the carpenters had to cut every rafter and ceiling/flooring joist by hand, you needed more speed, stability and horsepower than today's toy miter saw could have delivered.

Agree, he'll have difficulty finding anyone to pay $650 for it. The trailer has possibilities, but $6500 is just nuts.

That model can cross cut just over 25" wide on 3/4" thick stock. Believe it or not many cabinet shops still look for these old monsters for that reason. Even with the availability of CNC, sliding table saws and panel saws, some still prefer to use a well adjusted RAS to get a perfect 90* edge on a panel. They are also popular as dedicated dado machines.

It is amazing to see it still on the original trailer but the value here no longer lies in the portability or the multi-purpose utility of a RAS like this. $6500 is crazy but there are many who would consider $650 to be a steal (not me).
