In general a 56c motor of that hp and rpm is just that, and any other with the same designation should fit in its place. A picture would sure help your cause.

Like the fellow said, W.W. Grainger. They've got an online catalog that's even bigger than the paper one. Expect to pay a premium, but the odds are they've got it, or can have it to you tout de suite.

Oh, and the great part is that anyone can buy from them nowadays, unlike in the past, where you needed a tax number. I've had an account with them for about 50 years.

It looks like a plain Jane 56c motor. Just type those parameters into google, ebay, amazon. Should get thousands of results.

The problem is that where the wires come out of the motor its has that little *** where the float switch attaches to. I can't find any motor online that has that configuration. I'm not smart enough to figure out how to make some kind of mounting bracket that would be sturdy enough to hold the switch.
Anyway I was able to call Tramco and they said they sell motors so right now I'm waiting for them to get back to me. Thanks for all your help.

Sad part is they might charge you close to what a new pump costs for just a motor. I'd drill a hole and move the "***" to the new. Is what you call the *** the threaded coupler? Because that is just an electrical conduit part. Not anything special. But it requires a hole...

Sump pumps typically have the switch integrated right into the motor head, not an easy switch over. A normal "C" face motor with a switch like Cobbler linked to, just make sure you get the off in the down position switch as stated by The Cobbler

I have sometimes substituted an out board float switch on a sealed flexible cable when I could not find a direct replacement for the OEM switch.

Well maybe I'll try experimenting on the old motor but since that one lasted me 23 years I'll probably have no need since I just ordered one from Tramco; and vwpieces was right it is going to cost almost as much as a whole system. The original pump and motor cost $1,785.00 and the motor I just ordered is going to cost me $1,000.00

You will not find a direct replacement other then OEM with that swtich ****** mount. So you either buy a standard 56C motor and rig up a switch, buy the OEM motor, or see if the old motor can be repaired.

Looks like you already ordered a motor from Tramco so you can use their switch.
If someone decides to use a generic motor without their switch here's a great electronic switch that I've used. No floats to hang up and no mechanical switches to go bad. There are two sensors so you can set the on/off height where it works best for your situation and to reduce short cycling.

I'm going to keep that in mind. The only gripe I have with my setup is that I have to replace the switch every year and a half because the contact tips burn up because my sump is constantly running. This seems like it would be a good fix for that. Thanks for the good suggestion.

Mine runs all the time as well and the switch has been on it for 10 years.
They also have great customer service.
I've installed 6 so far for friends and family and no problems.
