So my dad's home AC Trane compressor looks like it's shot. He has a buddy that use to do AC work and can replace it for him but he can't get the parts. Is there a place online that I can order one from?

The unit is a Tran XB10 m02.no.2TTB0030A1000AA

I have looked around and I'm not sure I am ordering the write part. Any help on this will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!!

You can find it from a Trane distributor/dealer. Trane made some of the worst comprssors out there, is it reddish/orange?

Ive only seen a few but if I am not mistaken i have seen 20 year old ones and Brand New ones that were all reddish orange, I have never seen any other. They all had the Spiney-Fin Condensor coils also.:)

I did not see what color the compressor was so I'm not sure. My dad's house was build in 2003 so the AC unit is not really all that old but then again, I'm not sure if 8 years is normal for the life of a compressor. Do the Trane dealers sell directly to the public? Or do you have to be a HVAC contractor?

2003 was a bad time for Trane . They had switched compressors around 99/2000 and had several years of crappy compressors ( Units made before 1999 had the best compressors ever made in them as far as I am concerned ) . The only place you will find a direct replacement Trane compressor is at a Trane distributor or dealer . The good news is that unit may have had a 10 year compressor warranty on it so its still under warranty most likely.

Oh yeah they were all " reddish /orange " so color wont tell you diddly on weather its a good trane compressor or one of the crappy ones :D.
