I received an email with this link at work. Saw they had a bunch of tools on clearance. You can search by brand to narrow down the clearance to tool brands only.
I've never purchased tools from this company, but have done business with them on instrument calibration.

Check it out. Post up any deals you pulled the trigger on.

I looked through the clearance items. I don't really need anything at the moment. Didn't really see anything I wanted, but there were some deals compared to the amazon bench mark so to speak. Doesn't mean other won't find something useful.

I searched for lineman's pliers, I have one, but it's pretty low end. I also don't use it very much and it's get the job done. So it would have to be an absolute steal for me to replace the one I have. Not going to order this set myself, but looks like a deal though.

Some good deals there - we use them at work too. Does anyone know if you have to create an account to purchase?

I haven't done it, but I think you need to register, which looks like giving name address email, etc. I don't think you need to set up a purchasing account.

I also saw that they have a $50 minimum for credit card transactions.

I just bought 2 mystery boxes for $50 each from Transcat on eBay. They claim each box has a retail value of $350-500 of slow moving stock.

I'm either an idiot or I'm going to he pleasantly surprised. Honestly , this feels like a gamble but I'd rather gamble like this with $100 than on a slot machine.

I'll update when it arrives...

You'll be more than welcome to laugh at me and call me an idiot or welcome to to tell me I **** depending on what these mystery boxes yield.

The listing states the following:

TRANSCAT MYSTERY BOX – 15 to 25 items in each box

RETAIL OF BOX CAN RANGE FROM $300 TO $500
List of Brands that MIGHT be in box:

· Black & Decker

· Gedore Tools

· Apex Hand Tools

· Wera Tools

· Ergodyne

· Stanley

Plus other brands

NO RETURNS

That is genuinely brilliant of them. They could even offer it as a monthly thing like a wine club. Gift the tinkerer in your life a membership!

My hesitation would lie with receiving a bunch of odd ball socket or wrench sizes. But then again, even just a couple of decent tools would just ify the cost.

I'm much too "fussy" about my tools to do that and personally would prefer spending the $100 on one or two tools that I really wanted then leaving it to chance but hope he gets a decent selection of tools that he will actually use. I am curious to see what he winds up with.

Unfortunately, I didn't hesitate. They got me with "mystery box." So I ordered one. We'll see what happens!

This forum costs me too much money.....
I saw one show listed today and saw it sell very quickly. I saw it sold and came here to see if someone here bought it and saw your reply 🤣

Mine arrives tomorrow... I'm curious

Mine arrived. I got more than the $108 i paid for both boxes.
To be expected , there are filler items but I overall I think I did ok. I'll keep some , sell some to recoup cost like that fluke bag , Kelin wire strippers and the larger label printer for example.
Quite a few Gedore screw driver bits , the non static discharge type.
I added the delivery sheets.( Accidently duplicated one instead of posting all 5 sheets so some missing ).

Huge bargain ? No , but the value is there plus a little more. 1st time doing a mystery box , I'm glad I didn't get screwed and there were a few items I do need.

Definitely some nice stuff in there but I'll stand by my earlier comment and would have rather put the money towards something I really wanted. I'd say you got good value in there unfortunately for me I wouldn't have really needed any of it.

Yes , I agree however for someone like me who arrived here 2years ago with only a couple of socket sets , buying lots like this and selling off what I don't need to offset the cost a little has been a huge help as I basically started from scratch and in 2years , have a reasonably healthy collection of hand and power tools.
3/4 of it was buying multiples on sale and then selling off the excess to try offset costs a little.

In this case , I'm sure I'll claw back a good amount of what I spent and what I keep will land at a rather low cost.

6 of my 10 Makita batteries for example , were acquired with lawn mowers and a circular saw that were on clearance at home depot , and by selling one lawnmower complete , the other without the batteries , I ended up with 6 5AH batteries and a 7.5" circualr saw for a total cost of $75 and a little effort reselling on market place. So that was my thinking here. Doing stuff like this has made me starting over a hell of a lot easier while I started out in a new country with not much of a budget to aquire new tools.
