I've been looking to get a trans jack, and have been doing some heavy research. First looking through reviews on Amazon, the Grizzly and OTC 1521A seem to both have good reviews. I want a jack that is a balance between quality, price, and serviceability. I really like the real OTC jack, the blue one, but it is for class 7 and 8 trucks, not automotive thus making it too large. Same as the Norco. And the prices are north of $1500, too much for me. Went to Grizzlys website and all their repair parts for the jack are discontinued? So if it starts to leak then you're screwed. Also made in China. The OTC 1521A is also Chinese, but they have a full range of service kits for it. Its slightly more expensive but also has great reviews. So i'm leaning that way, anyone have this jack and can give me a service history and opinion? I'm a little gun shy on import jacks these days, but in this case it doesn't look like I have a choice. Harbor freight recommendations need not apply, I don't care how many you can use up and throw away for *** dollars.

How about Milwaukee? Gray is another huge player in transmission lifts, wouldn't be scared of Norco either based off there product support.

Milwaukee does not make that style of jack. If they did i'd be all over it. Gray only makes one model that I can find and its north of 2K. And its for tractor/trailer transmission, not automotive. Same with the OTC 5019A. I'm looking at the 1/2 ton family. Norco makes one, the 72050E. OTC makes the 1521A. All the others are the Torins, HFs, and no name garbage. Looks like the Norco goes a bit higher, which is a huge plus, so I may be giving the nod in that direction. This is the style i'm looking for:

Sorry, I assumed you wanted a pedestal hoist style Jack. I sell floor models at about a 10-1 ratio versus the hoist type so I should have known. I don't know where the Norco's price out versus the OTC, but if it was close I would probably go with Norco.

Good Luck..

The Norco is about $100 more, so not a big deal. The shipping weight on the norco is heavier. The norco does not list seals though, should they go bad eventually, they list a whole power unit which no one seems to have. I may email them direct and get more details about that aspect of it. If it is serviceable, i'll probably go that route.
