I'm trying to tune the startup on a control board to a treadmill motor I'm setting up for a new (to me) Rockwell DP. http://www.garagejournal.com/forum/showthread.php?p=2464215#post2464215

It’s a variant of the MC 30 (30A version of the MC 60) and came with the Motor, (all the rest of the electronics has been tossed…)

I’ve gotten to the point where its operational and I can get the motor going and control its speed with a 10K pot I added, but the start is hard and at full speed…

I also figured out that I can short out between two of the Pot connection points, (the green and yellow test lead points, see pic) and it will start at the last speed I set, but there is a delay with this process and that seems to be tied to what speed it is set for (the slower the speed setting the longer the delay…)

I’ve read where you can remove a transistor and clip a trace on the MC60 series, but that didn’t help as the devices use different reference designator numbers, so tracing the circuit isn't practical (no schematics)…

Does anyone have experience with the MC 30 series controller and this mod, and/or maybe a schematic for the MC30 where that might be compared to the mod info I managed to get?

Outlaw, I'm hoping you can help me with the wiring of an MC 30 board. I have (what appears to be) the exact board as you have pictured, along with the speed pot and motor from the original treadmill. Where I'm having trouble is the 4 connections next to the SCR, and labeled A-, A+, AC2, and AC1. I assumed the motors leads go to A- and A+.

If you could shed some light on what the wiring should look like to the board, it would be very appreciated. Please excuse my ignorance/total lack of electronics knowledge.

Thanks for the reply, and link (some nice info/photos)!

I attached a picture of the board that came from the TM (apologies for lack of quality. It's from my phone)

Basically I've hooked up the controller to AC power and attached the speed pot. When I turn on the power. The motor starts but immediately loses power. I'm wondering if that's a sign of a bad controller or incorrect setup. Please show me the way! :D

Have you tried to adjust the pot? it may be set low and is just spinning down.

These are the connections IIR correctly:

You were correct. I guess I thought the pot was more sensitive.:lol: anyway thanks for the speedy help, outlaw!
