Treadmill motor controller wiring help

I finally got my hands on a treadmill to pull the motor and controller for use on my drill press. Its a Sportcraft treadmill, 2.25 hp motor but the controller is not the MC60 that I've been reading a lot about. I don't see where I would connect the speed pot. Can someone tell me if this controller will work, and if so, how do I wire it? If it helps, the 8 pin connector on the left side of the board is what was connected to the treadmills control panel. Thanks for your help.

Most likely that unit had an electronic control panel with a up and down push-button and not just a speed pot, hopefully you have all the rest of the treadmill to save the board and see how it was wired up.

Yes, the control panel has up and down push buttons for speed and up and down push buttons for incline control. A ribbon cable went from that 8 pin connector up to the control panel. Do I need to open up the control panel? I really don't know what to look for. I'll open it and take a pic to post here if that helps.
