I'm working on a treadmill with electric incline adjustment. An electric screw drive motor controls the up and down movements. The problem is, when you go from the lowest incline setting to the highest, the screw only moves 1/4 of a turn. When you go up/down incrementally, it turns even less. I can manually extend the screw about 3 inches, which would be what is required to be at max incline. What would this be? Is the screw drive motor junk?

you could always uncouple the motor from the screw to confirm whether the motor is good or bad. If there is a screw, then I'm assuming there is also a nut. Perhaps one or the other is stripped?

Do you have an assembly schematic you could post or provide a link to so as to get a better idea of what this looks like?

I figured it out, it just needed recalibrated. Works perfect now.

probably a sensor blocked, or, too much current trips out the motor. from a burned motor winding, my guess may be its a small brushless dc motor or a brushed motor where the motor brush could be bad or windings. probably time for a new treadmill. or new motor if thats feasible.
